Percussions – KHLHI

Having plopped out tracks here and there over the past few years under the Percussions alias, your boy Four Tet has now pulled them all together for a full-length on his Text Records label. To mark it, he’s donated the percussive roller ‘KHLHI’ to Annie Mac for her Free Music thing:

Some of you will have heard this first time round last year but having it for yourself is good right? Download the full album here: percussions.bandcamp.com/releases.

John Beltran – Faux (Four Tet Remix)

It’s lunch, you’ve just wolfed down an overpriced chain sarnie, take a deep breath.

Feeling a little reflective over here thanks to Four Tet’s fresh remix of John Beltran’s ‘Faux’. Both remix and original have a quiet sense of melancholy to them, which isn’t entirely the downer you’d expect. There are significant echoes of Four Tet’s early work, and we can see why he’s putting this one out “soon” on his very own TEXT label.

Four Tet – Beautiful Rewind

In full, in all its glory.

Four Tet’s ‘Beautiful Rewind’ is now streaming in its entirety on his SC, and released for moneys on his own Text label. It’s fantastic, worth listening to start to finish, and contains a real contender for tune of the year in Parallel Jalebi.

Catch Kieran at Fabric in London this Friday, on the radio on Rinse this weekend, or at the recently announced all-dayer he’s putting on. Say no more.

Four Tet – Parallel Jalebi

Four Tet’s upcoming ‘Beautiful Rewind’ is fast becoming the most anticipated album at HD HQ, and this new teaser is doing nothing to dampen our excitement.

‘Parallel Jalebi’ is, in classic Hebden fashion, a mixed-up monster of a track. The closest we could get was juddering electronica with a RnB vocal. However you describe it, it’s top.

It follows on the mixed-up heels of ‘Kool FM’, a track that was begging to be ripped, and duly was:

Add in his recent production work, and we’re seeing Four Tet back again at the top of his game, if he ever left. May this man never retire.

Four Tet – 0181

Having teased fans on Twitter and Facebook about an upcoming release, Four Tet has today dropped this new LP. ‘0181’, possibly a reference to the old London dialling code, is an assortment of the experimental soundscapes we’ve grown to know and love from him. All of the tracks were recorded between 1997 and 2001, before he hit the big time. This is released on his own label, Text, and there’ll be a vinyl for it later on this year.
