George Fitzgerald – Call it Love ft Lawrence Hart (Scuba Remix)

While we were putting the final touches on a glorious night of dance music at Basing House last Friday (pics to follow), Scuba was busy remixing his ol’ buddy George.

George Fitzgerald’s first full-length back in April signified a shift away from the dancefloor, swapping the big-room basslines of ‘Child’ for the impassioned crooning of Lawrence Hart. Scuba reaches out to all the disenfranchised tech-house heads with this one, ensuring his mate’s by-the-beach cut stands the test of the warehouse session ahead.

We like both, check out the original below.

Dark Sky – Voyages (Francis Inferno Orchestra remix)

Dark Sky have had some remixes done of their ‘Voyages’ single, this is the best one:

Newly signed to Modeselektor’s Monkeytown label, Francis Inferno Orchestra is a house producer from Down Under and he’s done a tech-house job on this one. Rhythmic but not oppressive, it’s a mid-set staple.

As festival season cranks into gear, we can imagine getting a serious nod on to this one, perhaps sipping a cold beer on a beach somewhere that isn’t Brighton/the Thames. Surely that’s enough to warrant a listen?

Lake People – Purposely Uncertain Field

Lake People’s long awaited debut full-length is out today on Permanent Vacation, titled ‘Purposely Uncertain Field’.

From the tracks he’s serialised on his Soundcloud page, Lake People (real name Martin Enke) has concentrated on perfecting the melodic, shoe-gazing, tech-house style that has made his productions such a hit, both in his native Germany, and abroad.

The two we’d like to focus on are the fidgety, yet haunting ‘Glease 29’…

…and, our current favourite, ‘Drifting Red’.

On this evidence, ‘Purposely Uncertain Field’ is an LP to get lost in.

Human Drizzle will be in Berlin at the end of the month, where we will try (and probably fail) to catch Lake People at Panorama Bar. Should we manage to sneak in, we’ll report back on how this transfers to the dancefloor.

The Acid – Ghost (Maya Jane Coles Remix)

MJC, doing it right:

Not content with her first Mobilee release in over three years, Maya Jane Coles has also given The Acid’s ‘Ghost’ a reworking with excellent results. Both ‘From the Dark’ (taken from the Mobilee EP) and ‘Ghost’ stay true to Maya’s tech house roots but there’s something about the remix that hints at a darker, broodier 90s electronica. A dash of UNKLE if you will.

Both worth a listen.

Lion Babe – Jump Hi (Todd Edwards Dub)

We’re here for the Todd Edwards on this one:

Much as we’re sure Lion Babe and Childish Gambino are good (and we really did enjoy this at the time), it’s the UKG maestro’s rework that makes this a top listen. Rolling tech house to drive you towards hometime.

Booka Shade – Right On Track

Few endorphins for you this November Monday:

‘Right on Track’ is Booka Shade doing what they do best, rolling tech house with some big old build n drops. The German duo have a new EP out today and this is one third of it. We’d like one every Monday ‘til Christmas please.

John Talabot – Bicep Remixes

JT’s producing bangers for fun right now…

You thought we meant Justin Timberlake didn’t you? Heathens. Anyway, John Talabot’s followed up his superb Pional remix with not one but two remixes for the latest Bicep release and they are both EXCELLENT. It’s rolling tech house of the kind JT (careful…) is world-beating at right now. We will be as ‘down the front’ as it’s possible to be on 8th November for his Hivern Discs showcase.
