Real Nice presents: Monkey Safari

Real Nice

If you find you find yourself out and about in London this weekend (it happens), you would be well-advised to head down to Real Nice‘s party at Crucifix Lane. True to form, they have looked far and wide when putting together the line-up for this one – and have lured Monkey Safari all the way from Halle in Germany to south east London. The fraternal double act promise to put on quite a show – tuck into recent single ‘Watching the Stars’ for a taste of what to expect.

Support comes from Sixth Avenue Express, who impressed at the last Human Drizzle shindig at Bar 512 and whose ‘I See’ EP meanders from measured house to disco bonanza in a way that your ears will really appreciate. Give it a spin below, and get yourself down to this party tomorrow night if you happen to be in London.

Human Drizzle: The Mixtape, January 2014 | Benedict Jackson

We’re excited Benedict Jacksonto announce a new feature on Human Drizzle. Every month we will bring you an exclusive mixtape from one of our favourite artists. First up is Benedict Jackson, whose April EP was the debut release from wave-making London DJ duo (and label), Real Nice (Recordings).

We saw Benedict at Loft Studios before Christmas and fell in love with his sound – which is nicely represented on this mix: from hands-in-the-air disco to moody deep house via Skeelo (yep), it’s the best 90 minutes you will spend today. Tuck in.

Real Nice Presents…

We don’t need to tell you Xmas is the season of goodwill. It’s a time for giving and it’s a time for parties.

We do need to tell you, however, that London-based label and DJ duo Real Nice are very much getting into the spirit of things and living up to their moniker.

Capping off a decent year releasing records in style, they’re currently giving away seven days worth of free music – they kicked off proceedings yesterday. On the team sheet we’re treated to the likes of Benedict Jackson, eLDOKO, A&O and the duo themselves. Many of those involved have featured on these pages before, and we’ll give you a gentle reminder next week when their generous offering is drawing to a close. Otherwise give them a follow on Twitter to get a day-by-day account. Check out yesterday’s for a taster:

More importantly – the weekend. This Friday sees Real Nice take over the excellent Loft Studios in North West London for what looks set to be their biggest event this year.

Pleasurekraft will be headlining and an extensive Real Nice Recordings line-up will be in support – Benedict Jackson, Croz & Krywald and Real Nice. Check out the following for a tasty selection of what to expect. And while you’re listening, head over here to bag your ticket now before they run out – this one’s gonna be popular.

eLDOKO – Flur EP

Quick off the mark, London-based Real Nice Recordings have already unleashed their second release. It comes in the form of eLDOKO’s three track ‘Flur’ EP  and was out this week. It’s difficult not to mention that eLDOKO was one of the chaps behind what is fast becoming a very good reason to make that annual visit to North Wales, Gottwood Festival. Besides organising this, he knows how to throw a beat around. Title track ‘Flur’ is our pick of the two originals on the EP, the funky vocal loops accompany the jackin’ house nicely. It’s worth checking out the Benedict Jackson remix of this one too, if you’re willing to go a little deeper that is. (We like this guy, check out RNR’s first release…)

However what really caught our attention was the free download Real Nice Recordings have served up for the price of a ‘Like’ here. It’s a co-write with eLDOKO entitled ‘Thuggin’’ and is a smooth slice of deep house, again with a top vocal. Really enjoying this one:

If you’re in London town this evening, they’ve got an EP launch party on Kingsland Road’s The Shelter. Get on down.

Benedict Jackson – Not Your House/Audax

We know little about Real Nice Recordings save the fact they’re a newly formed, London-based label. The two Real Nice DJs have been spinning records and holding some fairly sizeable parties both in Bristol and West London for a while now, so a foray into releasing records seems like the next logical step.

Their debut release is from fellow Londoner Benedict Jackson and it’s a party starter. The two originals breathe deep and soulful house and both the Real Nice DJs and Cubiq step up on the remixing front, grab the EP here. Great to see such fresh talent on a similarly fresh label, promising stuff.
