Four Tet – Parallel Jalebi (Hudson Mohawke RMX)

As part of the ongoing appetite-whetting for his forthcoming album, Hudson Mohawke has been spraying a few new tunes around:

He dropped four new fellas on Benji B’s Radio 1 show (listen here), including the above remix of Four Tet’s juddering ‘Parallel Jalebi’. As a festive treat this is now available a gratis from LuckyMe’s excellent Advent Calendar. It’s better than the cheap chocolate you got out of yours this morning.

Oceaán – Grip

Like your electronic music full of glitches, ethereal build-ups and minimal break-downs? Looking for a new favourite artist? No worries, HD has you sorted. Manchester-based producer Oceaán is a star on the rise, having caught the eye of Radio 1 big dogs Huw Stephens, Phil Taggart and guest resident SOHN.

His latest release ‘Grip’, premiered on SOHN’s show a few weeks back and comparisons abound to James Blake. Once you get into his only EP released so far, it’s not hard to see why. A choirboy from an early age, it’s his soulful vocals that bind the music together and will no doubt be a powerful presence in his new live show.

Oceaán is signed to Chess Club Records, forming part of a seriously talented family including Swim Deep and . He is currently touring Europe with his new live show, but he promises us he’ll be back in the UK soon. File this under ‘one-to-watch’.

Real Lies – North Circular

We’ve been meaning to write about Real Lies for a while and, given their blanket radio coverage these past few days, why not now eh?

New single ‘North Circular’ has pushed the Marathon Artists three-piece way out in front of the chasing pack. Inevitable comparisons with The Streets are justified given their dainty dancing down the line between lyrical pop and electronica but there’s more to them than being an homage to boss man Mike Skinner . We think there’s something for the Pet Shop Boys fan (*cough* us *cough*) in there too.

Essentially, more please.

They’ve also shown impeccable taste by having Pariah (one half of Karenn) remix their earlier release, ‘World Peace’. Again, worth a listen:

They’re playing a free gig next Thursday with Oscillate Wildly and others. Don’t come though, we want to get in no hassles.

S-Type – Rosario

Couple of LuckyMe gems here. Straight up diamonds, no rough involved.

First up is another uplifting piece of video game electronica from Glasgow’s S-Type, ripped from labelmate Eclair Fifi’s Radio One show last week. ‘Rosiari’ hits the electronic shelves soon, all packaged up as LM017:

Also getting an airing on the ‘In New DJs We Trust’ starlet’s show was the full-length version of HudMo’s remix of Jackson and his Computer Band’s ‘Vista’:

Both are hi-vis, high fizz bursts of dance music, and they deserve a listen.

Alex Metric & Jacques Lu Cont feat. Malin – Safe With You

Best put your hands in the air now, save yourself the trouble during this top drawer collaboration between Alex Metric and Jacques Lu Cont:

They’re two of dance music’s most euphoric producers, both with impeccable pop sensibilities, and their skills are perfectly complemented here by the vocal talents of Malin from Niki & The Dove. Premiered during Annie Mac’s show last week, it’s due out on Ministry of Sound soon. Here’s a longer, dub mix with a back and forth between Annie and Jacques thrown in first (tune starts around 2:35):

What a pick-me-up.

Hot Chip – Dark & Stormy

It’s a single, but not as we know it.

Hot Chip premiered a new track, ‘Dark & Stormy’, on Zane Lowe’s show last night, with a release date of July 22nd. Rather unusually, the “single” will be eight tracks long and have some things old and some things new on there. Dare we suggest there’s a few familiar faces to our assiduous readers?

Basically, it’s a new song from the masterful Hot Chip, teamed with a collection of their best bits and bobs since 2012’s ‘In Our Heads’. Can’t argue with that.

Jacques Greene – On Your Side EP

As teased yesterday, we’re getting a new Jacques Greene EP! Yessss.

LuckyMe will be putting out the ‘On Your Side’ EP in June and it’ll be made up of the previously scribed-on ‘Quicksand’, a new one called ‘Faithful’ featuring the dulcet tones of Oliver Day Soul, and THIS:

Premiered on Zane Lowe yesterday, it’s EXACTLY what Jacques does best. He’s even gone so far as to pull in fellow R&B aficionado Tom Krell (aka How to Dress Well) on vocals, beefing up that half of his signature house-R&B blend.

Here’s Quicksand too, because you deserve it:

Oneman, xxxy & Bondax mixes

Mixes, mixes, everywhere. Couple of longer ones here to keep you trucking this Friday.

First up is the one man you’d most want spinning the tunes at your house party, Oneman. His two hour mix for the Diplo & Friends show on Radio 1 and 1xtra is 50 songs worth of goodness, seamlessly weaving club house, R&B, grime and more as only he can do.  The (lengthy) tracklist can be found here.

Second up and repping Manchester is producer and selector xxxy. Taken from his recent set for Red Bull Music Academy at SonarSound in Tokyo last month, imagine it as the slightly reserved but intense cousin of the mix above. Listen here.

Finally, it’d be remiss if we didn’t also point you in the direction of an unashamedly fun new mix from Bondax for XLR8R. In advance of their first LP later this year, remind yourself why everyone bloody loves these two and download the mix here. If you needed more convincing, it includes this bundle of fun:

Those should keep you going.
