Top 5 Tracks of the Week

1. Harvey Sutherland & Bermuda – Coast 2 Coast: Melbourne-based Harvey Sutherland and his accompanying orchestra are back with the synth ‘n strings ‘Coast 2 Coast’, the first taster from the forthcoming ‘Expectations’ EP, out on 24th March via his own Clarity Recordings.

2. Tom VR – A Fantasy:A Fantasy’ is a measured and hypnotic cut from Leeds lad Tom VR’s ‘frissons’ EP, the second release on Seb Wildlood’s All My Thoughts label. Out 10th April.

3. The Juan Maclean – Can You Ever Really Know Somebody: Party-starter from DFA’s The Juan Maclean, the first we’ve heard from them since 2014. Out now, comes equipped with three accompanying remixes.

4. Octo Champ – Alleluia: A highlight from Octo Champ’s ‘Not Quite Here Yet’ EP, ‘Alleluia’ is layered with infectious samples, synths and percussion. This a total earworm. The EP’s out now on Let’s Go Swimming, head to their party at the Waiting Room this Saturday night to see the Glasgow/London producer IRL.

5. Donald Dust – Joy July: The third cut on No Bad Days’ third release and it’s more synth grandeur from the mysterious producer Donald Dust. All aboard the ‘Dazzle Ship’, EP out now.

Running Back label boss and selector-extraordinaire Gerd Janson stepped into the Essential Mix Hall of Fame last week. For anyone that missed it:

Top 5 Tracks of the Week

1. Wayward – Orissa: After a two year hiatus, London duo Wayward are back in style. The ethereal sounding sample really takes on a life of its own in the latter stages. Destined for the festival circuit, this.

2. Saine – Mint EP: Three for the price of one. Finnish producer Saine has dropped a gem of an EP on FINA Records (out 24th March). Peachy samples and disco loops pepper the three deep house cuts.

3. The Blaze – Territory: French duo The Blaze took pride and place at the top of our Tracks of 2016 with their feel-good hit ‘Virile’. They’re back with another belter (and another interesting vid to accompany).

4. Benjamin Fröhlich – Rude Remixes: HD faves Lauer and Cleveland get the call up for Benjamin Fröhlich’s ‘Rude’ remixes EP. One cool, calm and collected and t’other upbeat. Released on Fröhlich’s very own Permanent Vacation.

5. Donald Dust – Dazzle Ship: The excellently-named ‘Dazzle Ship’ is the fourth release from London’s No Bad Days label. It’s penned by the also-excellently-named Donald Dust (reportedly the moniker of an already established producer), and both tune and video act as a wonderful homage to the synth-laden tasty eighties. Pre-order the EP now and get this one for the time being.

Mix: Blast from the past Cyril Hahn steps in for a surprisingly jackin’ hour for Earmilk with tracks from Kornel Kovacs, Mak & Pasteman and Hahn himself.

Human Drizzle: The Playlist, February 2017

Jam-packed full of goodies this one.

A nod must be made to Cin Cin’s sixth release and their split 12” featuring gems from Elliott Lion and New Jackson. London-based Fold finally releases his 3-track EP on Moxie’s On Loop label, Krankbrother recruit Fort Romeau for remix duties and Matthias Reiling, Art Alfie and Coeo bring the funk.

Sweely’s timeless ‘All The Reasons’ finally gets a release on Distant Hawaii and we welcome back Wolf Music with an excellent offering from Hodini. Not to mention the totally exquisite moment from Z-Lovecraft on South London label No Bad Days.

There’s a lot to digest. The pensive ‘Songs For Knotty’ from Ishmael Ensemble should ease you in nicely…

Human Drizzle: The Playlist, January 2017

January’s edition of our monthly playlist is bursting with a wide range of talent from all across the globe.

There’s a strong presence from excellent South London labels Church, No Bad Days, Rhythm Section AND Chaos In The CBD’s new In Dust We Trust label. Disco belters on Razor-N-Tape Records, Eglo Records and The Black Madonna’s new label We Still Believe, an ode to 90’s rave from Australian producer Francis Inferno Orchestra and a tasty addition to London pals SlothBoogie’s (fairly) new premieres feature from G. Markus.

And one for the diaries. 4th March we’re having a party. Lock it in.

Selvy – POPS EP

The South London radio show and regular party No Bad Days are onto a winner with the inaugural release on their newly-formed record label. It comes in the form of a four track EP entitled ‘POPS’ and it’s penned by Polish producer Selvy.

Whether it’s the synth stabs of ‘Basics’ or the more cosmic title track ‘POPS, there’s something for everyone here, the stand-out for us being the dramatic ‘Wishing Well’.

Take a listen below, pre-order the EP here, and then head over to Hollick’s SoundCloud for more on No Bad Days from one of the co-founders.
