Tourist – Patterns

Tourist continues to deliver with his recent collaboration with Lianne La Havas. Joining ‘I Can’t Keep Up’ and ‘Together’ (one of the standouts of 2013, for us), ‘Patterns’ is the title track from his brand new EP, out on Disclosure’s Method Records.

Once again the London via Brighton producer is doing what he knows best – drawing the listener in subtly before a steady build up to the emotionally charged climax. It’s a tried and tested recipe from his more recent releases, and in turn he’s carving out a strong reputation as one of the UK’s most promising producers. Recruiting another celeb for the vocals, (a tip from the label heads perhaps) can only help the matter – Lianne La Havas sounds well at home with the swirling synths and scatty percussion. Her input, combined with the gospel-tinged chorus, make this tune very radio-friendly indeed.

For a change of tempo, check out Tourist’s recent remix of London Grammar’s ‘Sights’, and for a longer stint, his recent guest show on Rinse FM. We’ve got it ALL covered.

Tourist – I Can’t Keep Up

HD fave Tourist is onto a winner yet again with ‘I Can’t Keep Up’, another piece of anthemic electro-pop from the rising star. Londoner Will Heard provides the lung power on this heartfelt number, backed by Tourist’s trademark sound. He can interweave those chopped up vocals with the building synths till the cows come home – it’s stirring stuff:

This will be released on the highly-anticipated ‘Patterns’ EP, due out soon on Disclosure’s label, Method Records. Not only will the above be joining ‘Together’ on the release (the smash hit was placed securely in our Best of 2013 Playlist), but reliable sources inform us a certain Lianne La Havas may be featuring on it too.

CHVRCHES – Lies (Lxury Remix)

As part of the remix package CHVRCHES are releasing on Virgin Records on 2nd December, here’s Lxury’s rework of ‘Lies’, a shimmering and bouncy four minutes of fun.

We wouldn’t like to overuse the phrase ‘one to watch’, but we’ve been keeping a close eye on Lxury since we fell for his debut release ’J.A.W.S/We Do’ back in September. Not only was this catchy release shifted through Disclosure’s very own imprint Method Records, but the brothers Lawrence dropped the A-side in their Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1.

This sits comfortably on the release with one of our most played of the month, the wonderful effort from Tourist:

Lxury – We Do

Since it was dropped on Disclosure’s Essential Mix back in early August, ‘J.A.W.S’ by newcomer Luxury has racked up over 300,000 plays on his Soundcloud alone.

Since then he’s gone and done a Cat Stevens on us. A Prince. A J-Lo. Luxury made the big decision to drop the ‘u’ and has a BrandNu name, that of Lxury (Gold star if you can tell us who now performs under that BrandNu moniker…).

Tenuous name changes aside, Lxury’s recently uploaded the B-side to ‘J.A.W.S’, and it’s really rather good. Co-produced by Guy Lawrence of Disclosure fame, ‘We Do’ is as silky as its A-side (and many a Disclosure tune for that matter), and the main vocal is very catchy indeed.

Both ‘J.A.W.S’ and ‘We Do’ are available to buy now, right here. Unsurprisingly they are released via Disclosure’s very own imprint Method Records, which has seen a lot of air time on these pages of late.  Understandably so, check out these two quality recent releases from the label:

Tourist – Together

Disclosure’s very own Method Records imprint is recruiting quite the army of fresh talent to join their roster. Hot on the heels of the feisty release from Friend Within, is Brighton-based Tourist. He’s been making music for years under both the Tourist and Little Loud monikers. Chillwave and ambient would certainly be the go-to if we had to pigeon hole him.

However new track ‘Together’ sees him heading in a more upbeat direction. The vocal loops and synth crescendos make this return a dancefloor friendly one, and with an appearance at the Disclosure-curated Warehouse Project at the end of November, excitement to hear the rest of the Patterns EP is bubbling. It’s gonna be out December 2nd and this is an excellent taster.

Bondax – Giving It All (Friend Within Remix)

Liverpudlian Friend Within has gone from strength to strength since he landed on our radar back in March. He was on remix duties for HDP star Harry Wolfman’s co-written deep house ’96 Affair’ EP. Since then he’s managed to push Fatboy Slim’s classic ‘Renegade Master’ back on the scene, simultaneously securing pride of place as the first release on Disclosure’s label Method Records. It was the B-side to ‘The Scene’, the hefty number the brothers Lawrence premiered on their Essential Mix just ten days ago. Both tunes are quality, head here to purchase the whole EP.

And for his next offering? He’s remixed Bondax’s ‘Giving It All’, and in doing so has created a heady, piano-led party tune. He’s going places, this lad.
