Rome Fortune – Lights Low

Just as we recover from his storming back to back set with Floating Points at Worldwide Festival, a borderline boastful display of Four Tet’s multiple-stringed bow hits the web:

The second collaboration between Atlanta rapper Rome Fortune and our boy Kieran has everything you’d expect from the pair, Rome’s languid flow kept moving by a percussive synth riff the likes of which we are gluttonously used to from Four Tet.

Having said that, we actually prefer the first track from the duo, ‘One Time For’ but hey, make your own mind up. Don’t (do) listen to us:

Clams Casino – Bookfiend (Feat. DOOM)

Now this is a treat.
Having been keeping himself to himself recently (bar some choice ASAP interventions), Clams Casino has sprung a spring surprise on us with this collaboration. With DOOM.
DOOM’s languid flow fits nicely with Clams’ faded backdrop, and we can only hope it signals more from both of them, maybe even together.

araabMUZIK – The Prince is Coming

We all need a bit of atmosphere in our lives, and that’s what araabMUZIK provides. He recently loosed his latest mixtape ‘For Prefessional Use Only’ on us and it was cinematic. ‘The Prince is Coming’ was a highlight and it now has some visuals to go with:

The video is trippy and not a little wandering, the highlight being his maad skills on his MPC (DJing staple with little pads, for the uninitiated amongst you). If that acronym didn’t immediately put you off, there’s more of araab doing his thing for FACT TV here. It’s actually pretty amazing.
For the dedicated of you who’ve reached this point, here’s another more recent cut not from the album. Same vibe.

Big K.R.I.T. – R.E.M.

Whilst we wouldn’t have put Mississippi rapper Big K.R.I.T. together with blubstep crooner James Blake, it just about works… K.R.I.T has sampled ‘The Wilhelm Scream’ to great effect for ‘R.E.M.’, a cut from his upcoming mixtape ‘King Remembered In Time’. Like the video, it’s a dreamy showcase for K.R.I.T’s underapdrpreciated flow and the transferable melodies ofrem Mr. Blake.

Since we’re here, it would be a shame not to give Clams Casino’s remix of K.R.I.T’s ‘Moon and Stars’ another listen. It’s THAT GOOD.
