HNNY – Gymnastics

Today we’ve had a first listen of HNNY’s new ‘Tears’ EP coming to you on the superlative Swedish label Local Talk. Although the title track’s vocal is noteworthy, B-side ‘Gymnastics’ is the winner here – a classic, swirling D.I.S.C.O number. Hits the shelves 2nd December, pre-order your copy here.

Duke Dumont – Need You (100%) (Skream Remix)

Ever since Skream dropped Dimitri From Paris’ brilliant edit of Prince’s ‘I Wanna Be Your Lover’ in the B2B set he did with Disclosure at Boiler Room’s event of last year, we knew it wouldn’t be his last dabble in D.I.S.C.O. He’s just remixed Duke Dumont’s Need You (100%) and although the original’s one of our favourite tunes released this year, this remix is excellent in its own right too. It’s the perfect pick me up for a Monday.

Dropped today on Terje’s own label, Olsen, this is the fantastic exploration into cosmic disco by Terje himself and fellow Norwegian, Lindstrom. Full of the usual catchy hooks and stabbing synths, this will without doubt be on repeat for months to come, it’s brilliant. The closing vocal may be the cherry on the cake too, one of the best we’ve heard in a long time. The release is accompanied by a diskJokke remix, both are below.

They’re supposedly playing a handful of European festivals together this summer too. We wanna go, we wanna go, we wanna go to every one.

ThaMan With Todd Terje In The 80s

Having comfortably landed in at No. 2 in our Top 10 of 2012 with the ubiquitous ‘Inspector Norse’, we were delighted to hear this piece of news about the one they call Todd Terje. ThaMan from Belgian-based Red Bull Elektropedia has compiled a free downloadable mix of all of his remixes of classic 70s and 80s tracks. Featuring the Bee Gees, KC and the Sunshine Band, Stevie Wonder and many more, this is superlative stuff.

Brighten up your Mondays, people.

Giorgio Moroder – From Here To Eternity (Aeroplane Remix)

Scanning down Hansjorg ‘Giorgio’ Moroder’s discography is an enlightening experience. He’s a fairly prominent producer from back in the day (that day being any day from the 60s until the present). He was responsible for penning ‘I Feel Love’ with Donna Summer, he’s worked with the likes of Led Zep, Queen and Elton John and he was also responsible for most of the music on the Top Gun soundtrack. At the age of 72 he’s decided to get down with the kids and create a Soundcloud account, which is stacked with many of his top tunes.

Bringing his music even closer to the present, the Swedish nu disco label MB Disco is releasing an EP which features remixes of Moroder’s classic 1977 hit ‘From Here To Eternity’. Below is Aeroplane’s effort. He successfully retains the classic feel of the whirling disco tune, but also adds a welcome bouncy and cosmic edge.

This is out now.

Edging closer towards Friday, here’s a look at our favourite two mixes of the moment that should entice you into the weekend.

First up is Australian producer Black Magic Disco’s September 2012 Mix. The first he’s done yet, this is jam-packed with top tunes from the likes of Anna Lunoe, Vanilla Ace and HD fave Jonas Rathsman. He beautifully blends nu disco and house right up to the carnival-themed closer in A.N.D.Y’s remix of The Supermen Lovers’ ‘Say No More’. This is sure to get you moving your feet. Free to download, grab it now!

Another mix comes from Paulie, one half of Cosmonauts. Paulie’s Hot Mix No. 2 here is testament to why we’re so chuffed to have the London-based D.I.S.C.O afficianados as the headline act at the Human Drizzle Presents party we’ve been gearing towards … (if you’re in London on 13th October – 6 quid, 4 acts, lots of dancing and all the proceeds go to charity, what more could you want?) His new mix here is free to download too, check it out and bring the weekend that little bit closer.
