George Fitzgerald – Call it Love ft Lawrence Hart (Scuba Remix)

While we were putting the final touches on a glorious night of dance music at Basing House last Friday (pics to follow), Scuba was busy remixing his ol’ buddy George.

George Fitzgerald’s first full-length back in April signified a shift away from the dancefloor, swapping the big-room basslines of ‘Child’ for the impassioned crooning of Lawrence Hart. Scuba reaches out to all the disenfranchised tech-house heads with this one, ensuring his mate’s by-the-beach cut stands the test of the warehouse session ahead.

We like both, check out the original below.

Ten Walls – Sparta & Blue Orphan

Ten Walls is back, and he’s brought his tuba with him. After the brutality of November’s ‘Chains And Shackles’, the title track on new EP ‘Sparta’ reprises the grandiose brass that made ‘Walking With Elephants’ such a classic.

B-side ‘Blue Orphan’ explores similarly epic territory, and you can expect to hear a fair amount of both this summer. Compelling stuff from Lithuania’s finest.

Dolly Parton – Jolene (Todd Terje Remix)

If you’re fed up of winter, there are few things more cheering than news of a remix from everyone’s favourite Norwegian, Todd Terje.  This time he was set the task of remixing Dolly Parton’s seminal ballad ‘Jolene’ as part of T Magazine’s tribute to the queen of country music. A preview emerged in December, and now we have the full version:

Terje is careful to leave Parton’s voice to shine, instead focusing on dialling up the tune’s waltzing bassline and Flamenco-style guitar. He delays her powerful vocal until almost halfway through the track, setting the stage perfectly in what feels more like an homage than a remix.

This rework of Parton joins an illustrious roster of classic edits from TT, including his majestic ‘Stuck In The Middle With You’,  an exceptional effort on Chic’s ‘I Want Your Love‘ and the never-ending groove of KC & the Sunshine Band’s ‘I Get Lifted.

So cheer up, close your eyes, and think of summer months ahead listening to music like this.

Breach – The Key ft. Kelis

Out on 17th November on Atlantic Records, Breach is onto another winner here with Kelis providing the lung power.

This is a rework of a remix Breach did for the RnB star back in March for her Ninja Tune ‘Food’ LP. The collaboration obviously clicked, they returned to the studio to give the tune a revamp, and in doing so have penned a banger. This will no doubt follow in the footsteps of Breach’s previous anthems ‘Everything You’ve Never Had’ and ‘Jack’.

‘The Key’ is a punchy, toe-tapping bundle of joy and has radio written all over it.

Caribou – Can’t Do Without You (Tale Of Us & Mano Le Tough Remix)

Finally. A legitimate and full-length version as uploaded by Berlin-based duo, Tale Of Us. The need for scouring through festival footage on YouTube of this one being played throughout the summer is no longer.

Caribou‘s 2014 return single has proven to be one of the tunes of the year, and this remix by heavyweights Tale Of Us and Mano Le Tough is going to extend its airtime, giving the already-epic song more depth and more of a dancefloor feel. Pure class:

T.E.E.D x Anna Lunoe – Feels Like

TEED’s only gone and set up his own label, Nice Age. The producer’s described it as a ‘record label, fashion label, party label and sticky label. There isn’t a plan, this is just a way of putting out music, clothes and whatever I want under one name.’

Sounds good to us. Head over to the site for a ganders.

And the first release? A collaboration from TEED with Anna Lunoe, the Australian producer/DJ/radio host who graced these pages back in 2012 with ‘I Met You’, the pop gem she co-wrote with fellow Aussie Flume. ‘Feels Like’ however is a little more club-ready. It’s a high tempo shuffler that’s sure to get dancefloors moving.

Keep your ears peeled for more from Nice Age.

Mayer Hawthorne – The Stars Are Ours (Detroit Swindle’s Big Dipper Mix)

Detroit Swindle are back remixing their pal Mayer Hawthorne again in this excellently-titled free download. There’s nothing totally original about it but the piano loop and funky percussion work is second to none. There’s a whole eight and a half minutes for this one to creep in, too. It’s the Dutch duo at their best.

EJECA – City Night

The ever difficult-to-pigeon-hole* Ejeca is back with a brand new EP. Coming out in July on Sasha’s imprint Last Night On Earth, two cuts have surfaced; ‘City Nights’ is slick, atmospheric and catchy, whilst ‘Jalek’ touches on the darker side of techno. They’re both excellent and once again the Belfast producer’s versatility shines through.

*Here’s a few he made earlier:

Toyboy & Robin – Feel It

Weighty return from Toyboy & Robin. Particularly enjoy the key changes at 1.48 and 3.37 of this 90s-inspired banger – if you’ve not already heard it out before, get ready to hear a lot more of it.

Release date TBC.

Bondax – All I See

The sun is out and, with the summer jams coming thick and fast, Bondax get in on the action. ‘All I See’ even has ambient seaside sound effects during the intro, and it couldn’t be any more summery if it slathered itself in sunscreen and got changed into a pair of flip flops.

Having firmly established that THAT photo was absolutely not them, it’s good to have the the Lancaster duo back making music. The lyrics contain a lot of platitudinous stuff about senses coming alive, never wanting to leave, and aligning with the stars, but frankly who cares? It’s just a very big tune.
