Moodroom Presents Tales From Above

Heads up Londoners. This Friday Moodroom Collective return to their newly-discovered loft space for round 2 of their ‘Tales From Above’ party series.

Collaborating with Chapter 24 Records, music will be provided by said label bosses VVerses and the Moodroom-affiliated Harbinger Kurt, amongst others.

The hush-hush Zone 2 TBA venue sounds quirky and intimate with immediate comparisons to Body Hammer’s Lift venue. It’s set to be an cosy affair, and after the inaugural event’s sell-out in December, we’d recommend grabbing a ticket while you can.

Check out Harbinger Kurt’s recent Bloop radio show for a flavour:

Human Drizzle Presents Laurence Guy

Excitement levels are reaching fever pitch as we approach our latest instalment of Human Drizzle Presents.

hd-29-2-2-fb-cover

We’re back at Basing House this Friday with Laurence Guy, Krywad & Farrer and our very own Hot Karl. Tickets can still be bought from RA here.

Having had our eyes of Laurence Guy for a while now, we’re chuffed to have finally booked the London producer. You need look no further than his ace releases on Church, Rose Records or Cin Cin for proof he knows his way around a tune. But it’s his inspired selections that’ll be doing the talking this Friday night.

We caught up with him to see which tunes have been grabbing his attention recently:

1. JohNick – Play The World: “Classic party starter from JohNick, hasn’t left the bag for a number of years and I’m sure it won’t anytime soon…”

2. Sade – Surrender Your Love (Kenny Larkin Remix): “Amazing Sade edit from Kenny Larkin, I paid more than I care to think about on discogs for a copy of this, but it’s well worth it!”

3. B.A.M Music Inc. – Missing You: “Ridiculous disco vibes from B.A.M, fatefully nabbed the last copy from Love Vinyl when it came out and have been dancing to it ever since.”

4. Lauer – Hector: “Hands in the air deepness from Lauer, guaranteed to make people start hugging each other on the dancefloor!”

5. Lucretio – Want: “Peak.Time.Banger”

Thirsty for more? Why not grab a ticket for Friday night and see what else he has in store for our dancing delectation.

Human Drizzle Presets @ Basing House, Friday 23rd September

We’re excited about this one.

On Friday 23rd September Human Drizzle Presents returns to Basing House with a humdinger of a line-up. Tickets are now available at a reasonably-priced £6 here.

hd-29-2-2-fb-cover

We’ve been keeping a keen eye on Laurence Guy’s game ever since he crafted this saucy Valentine’s Day mix for us back in 2014. He’s been building a solid fan base over the years with timeless releases on Rose Records, Cin Cin, Outplay and two EPs on the excellent South London label Church – one of the latter was a sell-out.

As showcased on his recent Rinse FM show, he has a thirst for vintage disco and we can’t wait to see what he throws down on Friday 23rd.

Joining Laurence Guy will be Percolate’s Krywald & Farrer. We’ve wanted to nab the residents for a while – not only are their mixes fun-filled, party-starters but they’ve also developed an infectious sound of their own on recent productions. It’s a blend of house music that’s influenced by world music, and it’s definitely made for dancing:

Check out any number of their mixes up on SoundCloud for the longer listen, not to mention their newly-created, edits-only label Persies (we’ll talk about that another time).

As ever, our resident Hot Karl will be warming things up nicely from the start. All three are firm favourite selectors of ours and we can’t wait to have them down to the intimate surroundings of Basing House.

Grab a ticket here and we’ll see you down the front.

Studio Barnhus @ Corsica Studios 03.09.16

If you’re still on the hunt for a plan Saturday, put down the listings guide. We got you.

Trouble Vision have done it again with a Studio Barnhus label showcase down at Corsica Studios. Axel Boman, Kornél Kovács and Pedrodollar, founding trio of the Swedish label, will all be gracing the decks on Saturday night, bringing their house-but-so-much-more-than-house sound to South London.

Kornel’s gone and done a taster mix to whet the appetite:

As the accompanying RA profile described it, ‘House music for the end of summer’.

NAO – Fool To Love

Having had her ‘February 15’ EP on repeat for pretty much all the time since it came out, new music from Nao was welcomed with open arms…

To our relief/delight ‘Fool To Love’ continues in the rich neo-soul vein that Nao mines so effectively. As the second teaser (‘Bad Blood’ being another emotional, synth-laden modern ballad) for her debut album, again put out on Little Tokyo Recordings, it also acts as the perfect promo for her current European tour. Several dates are already sold out but there’s still plenty of reachable gigs for those who want to hear those vocals live and unfiltered.

Go on then, here’s ‘Bad Blood’ too:

Human Drizzle Presents @ Basing House, 25.09.15

Thanks to all who came down to Basing House for the last Human Drizzle Presents. We loved every minute of it – huge props to Wolf Music, Ben Gomori, NVOY and Hot Karl for dropping all sorts of bombs.

Salif Keita and Jocelyn Brown were two of the more offbeat selections, and it’s been a while since we’ve heard Osunlade in a club. Good times.

First photos below – the rest will be all over our Facebook page shortly.

Human Drizzle Presents @ Basing House – 25.09.15

HD_September_2015_fb_coverHaving recently announced the excellent Wolf Music as headliners joining NVOY, Ben Gomori and Hot Karl for our party this Friday night, we’re limbering up for what is promising to be a night to remember.

Basing House, 10pm on Friday 25th. Get your tickets here.

Although we’ve already featured Wolf Music’s top tunes of the summer, you need look no further than this mix they did for Tim Sweeney’s Beats In Space back in April for the kind of music they like to throw together. You can see the tracklisting here, but highlights would have to come from their own label’s exports, Medlar and Frits Wentink. Not to mention the superb K.98 remix of Thrilogy’s ‘Heaven’, also released on Wolf.

NVOY recently dropped the above infectious piece of future house on Black Butter Records. For the longer listen, check the mix they’ve done for the label’s London’s forthcoming parties below:

Penultimately, check out HD fave Ben Gomori’s exclusive recording of his Bestival set this year. He’s played for us twice before and we can’t wait to have him playing again.

Last but not least. Hot Karl rustled this one up a few weeks ago. A selection of his favourite tracks from the year to get you going.

See you Friday.
