Waze & Odyssey – Feelin You

Waze & Odyssey have a tasty release forthcoming on the Brooklyn-based label, Let’s Play House. So far we’ve caught snippets of one original, that of the jackin’ ‘Feelin You’, and one excellent remix by rising star Urulu.

If you’re kicking about in London town this weekend, we fulsomely suggest you head on down to the party that Percolate are putting on. Urulu will be making an appearance, alongside HD faves Casino Times, and more. Get involved here.

Garage $ale – Bump n Grind (Waze & Odyssey Mix)

It has always seemed to us that R Kelly’s ‘Bump n Grind’ is a somewhat controversial tune. Kelly’s description of the conflicting urges of his mind and body are slightly unnerving when you consider some of the allegations made against him.

Leaving that thorny and potentially libelous area aside, however, we invite you to enjoy another great piece of 90s-inspired garagey house from Waze & Odyssey (aka Garage $ale).  Regular readers will no doubt have enjoyed their last appearance on these pages, and this is another gem.

Waze & Odyssey – Love That Burns (Hot Enough)

‘Love That Burns (Hot Enough)’ is the new tune from Waze & Odyssey, a classic house track that reeks of the 90s, fully armed with looped vocals and a tuneful piano riff. It’s out on vinyl on October 22nd, but if you can’t wait that long, their ‘Turn The Volume On’ EP is out this week on Body Work.

We were first blown away by this tune when it appeared on the ‘Magic Tape Twenty Five’ from The Magician. Check it out below, it’s jam-packed with top unreleased summer tunes.

Citizen & Ashworth – Situation

Another excellent exclusive, courtesy of Mixmag.

Released on Waze & Odyssey’s imprint W & O Street Tracks, ‘Situation’ is the new one from a hot collaboration of Citizen and Ashworth. The flirtatious synth work and hefty bass line blend nicely to make this an essential party tune. Out on 9th December, you can pre-order it here.

Ashworth’s been a busy boy of late. He recently worked with rising talent Kiwi to produce the ‘Dawn’ EP, released on Sneaky Music. Check out the chugging wonder that is ‘CUx3’ below. If you like what you hear, head over to Juno to purchase the whole EP.

Bit Funk & Black Magic Disco Mixtape 003

This latest offering from Bit Funk has been swirling round HD HQ for a while now, we hope you’ll agree it’s heaps of fun. Steeped in nostalgia, the funky vibes should drag you kicking and screaming into the weekend. In a good way. It’s featured on many a mix of late, including this one from Black Magic Disco. Armed with hot tracks from the likes of Waze & Odyssey, Moullinex and Tensnake, and all yours for free at the click of a button, you’d be foolish not to download it right this second, it’s top.

And, speaking of top mixes, SlothBoogie released a new one this week. It’s a very different proposition from Black Magic Disco – with all manner of vocal samples and a nasty, ghetto house thing going on. A nice antidote, if you fancy one, to the festive cheer rapidly approaching on the horizon.

Lancelot – Mover

Australian producer Lancelot’s back with his ‘Mover’ EP, due out on Waze & Odyssey’s W&O Street Tracks on 6th July. The title track’s an atmospheric and reflective number, making way for jazzier sounds to come on the EP from ‘Everything On Its Way Down’ and ‘Closer’.

If you’re looking to schedule in some hustle this weekend, we’d recommend heading on down to The Nest on Saturday night. Lancelot’s playing some tunes with Lane 8, Dom Donnelly and Grainger. Tickets can be bought here.

Aaaand for the longer listen, Thump roped him in for their mix series about a month ago. Enjoy:

Bodhi – The Oakland Chinwag

Bodhi taking things harder, better, faster, stronger with new release ‘The Oakland Chinwag’. The rolling tune from our number one Welsh duo features on the forthcoming compilation album from Waze & Odyssey’s label, Street Tracks.

And it’s in good company too, with the album featuring a strong line-up of HD faves including Ejeca, Eliphino and Citizen. Not to mention the stonkin’ ‘TPW’ by Berlin-based Mancunian xxxy.

Hopefully this bass-heavy, high-hat parade will be amongst the canon of tunes he brings with him for his headline slot with Fort Romeau at Human Drizzle Presents next Friday. The 5th December that is, at Brixton’s Plan B. It’s going to be FUN.

Human Drizzle: The Playlist, Eastern Electrics 2014

eastern-electrics-2014Earlier this month, we went off on one about the re-imagined Eastern Electrics festival, taking place Saturday 2nd August. A stellar line up of techno and house talent touching down in leafy Hertfordshire, record bags fully loaded with prized gems that are absolutely sure to knock your socks off. Tickets here. Tickets here. And tickets here.

Being the considerate people that we are, we thought we’d lob together 90 minutes worth of tracks that best represent our favourites producers from the Eastern Electrics programme. We think this shows that we are absolutely buzzing at the prospect of getting down to Hatfield House for 11 hours of some of the finest dance music you’ll find anywhere.

Given the strength of the Eastern Electrics brand, it’s no surprise that they’ve been able to curate such a quality line-up. In our EXCLUSIVE playlist below, you’ll find offerings from HD faves T. Williams, Waifs & Strays, Mano Le Tough and Waze & Odyssey, not to mention one of the tunes of last year from Agoria, and arguably one of 2014’s best offerings from KiNK and Daniel Avery.

The fun doesn’t end there. Main stagers Maxxi Soundsystem, Steve Lawler, Art Department and house legend Kerri Chandler all have their say, and we cap things off with Route 94 and Dense & Pika.

Need some more? Well, we’re spent, but we suggest you join us on the 22 minute journey from King’s Cross out to the countryside on 2 August for a day of sun-fuelled 4/4 frivolity. For those that missed it the first, second and third times, here’s the ticket link again. But be hasty, they’re running out fast…

Over to you.

Paul Woolford – Untitled

If it were 2008, we would say that this track has been generating a lot of buzz online. It’s not, so we won’t – but you get the picture. Dance veteran Paul Woolford has revealed only that the track is called (somewhat unimaginatively) ‘Untitled’. It starts off with fairly unforgiving percussion and bass, before one of the year’s most explosive piano riffs changes things and the track transforms into a soulful, retro house banger.

Given its tantalising fade out after two minutes, it’s slightly infuriating that this is the only version that exists – but it’s safe to say that it’s blowing up. Scuba may be biased, given the track’s imminent release on Hotflush , but when Waze & Odyssey and Huxley are both describing it in exactly the same terms as “sound of the summer”, either there’s some kind of conspiracy going on or it’s going to be really big. Or both.
