Tropical Chaos feat Loumar – Leaving Train (Panda Remix)

They’re industrious chaps, are Panda. Most up-and-coming artists would be pleased enough with a Human Drizzle Presents headline slot and could be forgiven for resting on their laurels subsequently. We jest, but Panda’s recent output is nonetheless prodigious, with this whimsical, piano-led remix of Tropical Chaos’s ‘Leaving Train’ coming just six days after their reworking of Fred V & Grafix’s ‘Recognise’ – which followed promptly after several other great remixes, original tracks and mixes. The consistency is impressive, and long may it continue.

Fred V & Grafix – Recognise (Panda Remix)

This version of ‘Recognise’ is an all-West Country affair, with former HDP headliners Panda reworking Fred V & Grafix‘s rolling drum & bass original. The Exeter duo are signed to Hospital Records and ‘Recognise’ bears the hallmarks of that illustrious label, with Panda swapping D+B for house but keeping the same echoey vocal samples and central piano line. It makes for a very nice piece of hands-in-the-air dancefloor fodder, only slightly ruined by B. Traits wittering over the front of this version. If you want to hear it without her dulcet tones, it’s out alongside the original on Monday 17th March.

Jones – Many Moons (Panda Remix)

You can’t knock their output, them Panda lads.

Whilst juggling first releases from their newly created label, Bambusa Records, and also lending a helping hand on the excellent new EP from Lancelot on Anjunadeep, they’ve squeezed in the time to tweak ‘Many Moons’ by London’s Jones into a rather charming remix.

If you foolishly missed out on their Human Drizzle Presents appearance, then fear not – they’re popping up at parties all over the place, including Bulgaria’s most popular music festival come ski resort, Horizon Festival – line-up looks excellent.

And here’s their February mix for your listening pleasure. Head over to their Soundcloud to grab the free download…

Lancelot – Givin’ It Up feat. Anthony & Cleopatra (Panda Remix)

You know who’s always copying us? Annie Mac.

In all likelihood after having seen the line-up for Friday’s Human Drizzle Presents, the esteemed Ms. Mac has chosen a Panda remix of Aussie producer Lancelot‘s ‘Anthony & Cleopatra‘ for her latest Free Monday Music. We can only assume this means she’ll be joining us down Dalston way this weekend. She might even be lucky enough to hear more of this teaser from the trio’s new label Bambusa Records, building on this tempting snippet:

Aaaaand, all this comes on the back of their fantastic EP out on Sounds of Sumo a couple of weeks back:

They’ve been busy boys and we’re hyped to have them spinning for us on Friday. Come listen.

THE LINE-UP…

We’re very pleased to have Panda headlining proceedings.

Back in November last year theirs was the best debut EP we’d heard in a long while. Released on Toyboy & Robin’s Cool Kid Music, ‘Eighty Nine’ was full of blistering pianos and swirling synths, hugely influenced by 90s house yet still sounding on the right side of current. For a taster:

Since then their work rate has been second to none. They’ve given away a glorious hands-in-the-air piece of euphoria to fans for reaching three thousand followers on Soundcloud, they’ve recently dropped a taster of their upcoming EP on the tastemaking Eton Messy, and they’ve set the wheels in motion for their own label. Oh, and did we mention they dropped a wicked little number on the recent Black Butter Records compilation? It’s called ‘Harmony Fifth’:

Basically, these lads are going places. Follow them, like them, and then come dance to them.

Support comes from emerging talent Sixth Avenue Express, who again wowed us back in November last year, releasing an extremely promising EP on the House of Disco label entitled ‘I See’. Exploring a slightly deeper soundscape, it’s all woozy basslines, catchy vocals and a wonderfully chugging tempo.

Judging by the standard of recent mixes, we’re thrilled to have him on the ones and twos come 7th Feb:

Project Fresh Socks stepped in to spin some records at Human Drizzle Presents at the Yard back in August. We were mightily impressed with their tune selection and didn’t think twice about booking them for this one. Featuring the likes of Leon Vynehall and Pleasurekraft, check out the ‘Don’t Walk, Dance’ mix done by the London-based, Nordic duo:

Warming up proceedings nicely will be HD resident, Hot Karl. Get yourselves down early for his excellent selections and alluring stage presence.

All in all, the 7th Feb is shaping up to be a cracking night. So ditch the celery smoothie, postpone the boot camp session and get yourself down the front for this.

Panda – Harmony Fifth

Who doesn’t eat bamboo or have black eyes, but does make great house music? It’s Panda, otherwise known as Callum, Benny and Charlie, HD’s new favourite producers. They’ve provided the standout track of the new Black Butter Records compilation, ‘Harmony Fifth’ and it gives you a neat guide to the autumnal house these three are putting out:

And, just to show off, we’ve had a sneak listen of their upcoming Rewind EP (out on Sounds of Sumo 21st January) and it’s more of the same i.e. more good tunes. Courtesy of Eton Messy, here’s a third of it:

Panda – No More

West Country threepiece Panda may just be our favourite producers right now. Their brilliant EP ‘Eighty Nine’ was pleasingly diverse – opening with the blistering retro pianos of the title track and ending with the more experimental, atmospheric ‘The Storm’.

Just five days later, they’re back. Today they unveiled ‘No More’ to commemorate reaching 3000 Soundcloud followers. Very much evoking the EP’s livelier side, ‘No More’ is a swirling four minutes of giddy house music that leaves you with the unshakeable sense that these three chaps are really going places.

Panda – Eighty Nine EP

If you were unaware, purveyors of party tunes Toyboy & Robin have a little label on the side called Cool Kid Music. Having released their own tracks on it such as the wonderful ‘Jaded’ and welcomed newbies into the fray like Armeria and Werkha, they’re onto another winner with their next release.

It’s called ‘Eighty Nine’ and is by a UK-based trio called Panda.

The whole EP is a welcome blend of shimmering synths and vocal loops. We recommend digesting it all, but standout track ‘Eighty Nine’ is certainly the one. With big support already from the likes of Eton Messy and T. Williams, the catchy vocal and driving keys add up to a big potential hit.

You can get the whole EP here and we suggest you head to their Facebook for upcoming gigs. They are playing with the likes of B.Traits, Karma Kid and The Golden Boy, and with an appearance at London’s Freeze Festival there’s sure to be a night near you worth checking out.

Gold Panda – Brazil (Slow Magic remix)

Back in August we were really impressed with Gold Panda‘s performance at Beacons Festival – where he had beer-soaked northern lads embracing each other in amorous reverie with his swirling soundcscapes and intense stage presence.

The original version of ‘Brazil’ is typical of his production style, combining lush melodies and stop-start rhythms to produce something that transports you to another (altogether rather better) place. Slow Magic‘s rework of ‘Brazil’ features even more changes in tempo, with a lovely warmth and a soaring finale that makes us feel all fuzzy.

FaltlyDL – Straight & Arrow (Four Tet & Gold Panda Remixes)

FaltyDL is releasing his new single ‘Straight & Arrow’ in November and, as per, it’s top notch. It’s all glitchy samples and emotive vocals, with an overall warm vibe provoking blind excitement for the album, ‘Hardcourage’, on the shelves in January 2013.  What’s really exciting with this delightful Ninja Tune release is the stellar line-up on the remixing duties, in Four TetGold Panda and Mike Q. Four Tet serves up a part-hazy, part techno-scatter of a track that gets better every time you hear it, and Gold Panda puts his usual dream-like stamp on the tune. Stream all below; which one takes your fancy?
