Above & Beyond – Sticky Fingers (Lane 8 Remix)

Shouts to Anjunabeats for spreading the good word of Lane 8. Regular readers will know he’s up there amongst our favourites, and having made the move to Europe from the US, he decided sub-label Anjunadeep was the right place to release his excellent EP, ‘The One’.

So good were his efforts, label heads Above & Beyond have recruited his skills on their next release, ‘Sticky Fingers’. It’s a tad on the emo side, but once again showcases his crisp production skills nicely. This’ll be good for the sun-downers.

Lane 8 – The One EP

‘Nothing You Can Say’ is the jewel in the crown of Lane 8’s upcoming ‘The One’ EP, out on Anjunadeep:

Featuring the wistful vocals of Lucy Stone, this demonstrates yet again Lane 8’s ability to pen a feel-good tune. The title track is more of a slow-burning deep house track, but it’s no less good. The EP comes armed with a remix from Austrian duo Klangkarussell and the whole package hits the shelves February 10th.

For the longer listen, check out this recent mix he’s done for Anjunadeep which features HD faves Clancy and Bodhi, amongst others.

PS. Londoners (or not, if you’re keen) – Lane 8’s playing alongside Isaac Tichauer and Hackman at The Nest on April 4th. Get down there. Guaranteed fun, that.

Lane 8 – How I Feel

This new Lane 8 track should really propel him to the household name he deserves to be. Regular readers of these pages will know – we like him a lot and are stoked that the US super-label French Express have recruited him for this next release.

Yes the sample may be overused, but we’ve no qualms when it’s this measured and downplayed. Get your mits on the free download right here, right now.

Daughter – Youth (Lane 8 Remix)

More goodness from HD favourite Lane 8, this. It’s a little more subdued than some of his previous outings and, as the man himself said when lobbing this tune in our direction this week, “It’s not a song anyone is going to be playing out in the nightclub.” There are other places to enjoy music, though. We don’t have the time or space to list them all here, but many are suitable for this slow-burning Daughter remix – which boasts moody disco sonics and a swirling intensity.

Lane 8 – Be Mine

Lovely to see yet more quality music being released from Lane 8, the San Franciscan also known as Daniel Goldstein that we can’t stop banging on about. In ‘Be Mine’ he’s penned another catchy, sun-kissed three and a half minutes that effortlessly blends a little bit of disco and deep house. It’s a charming number that’s both upbeat and reflective, and it wonderfully shows off his slick production skills. There’s a healthy dose of his other material on these pages here if you’re keen to check out more. Besides this, he’s also just uploaded a gem of a Summer 2013 Mixtape. Make sure you get it on the download, there’s a lot of good music on there.

Lane 8 – So Much

Regular visitors to these pages (hi there) will know that we are big, big fans of Lane 8. So you can imagine our delight when we received ‘So Much’ from him this week, along with a bit of context.

He was doing a remix for Snowden last year, and was “blown away” by the vocal on their single ‘Keep Quiet’. So he decided (in the words of the man himself) “to timestretch Jordan’s haunting vocal line “is it so much me to ask?” so that it sounded almost like a girl singing the part.”

The end result is a melodic, end-of-the-night slow-burner that’s very easy on the ear (and free to download above).

Lane 8 – The Voice Part 2

Everyone’s (or certainly our) favourite San Fransiscan Lane 8 has just dropped ‘The Voice Part 2’ (the follow up to The Voice, naturally). Both tracks amble along nicely dabbling in both disco and house, and use the same sample, a vocal from Suzanne Vega’s classic hit, ‘Tom’s Diner’.

Lane 8 – Every Night

More new music from Californian joy-giver, Lane 8. His predilection for a soulful sample has been well documented (by us, at least), and this time he reworks Diana Ross & The Supremes to produce this beauty of a tune. Drink it in.

Lane 8 – Without You

Having waxed lyrical a fortnight ago over Lane 8’s piano-driven For You, we were delighted to hear he’s got a new track up for grabs. It’s called ‘Without You’ (there’s a theme here…), it’s yours for free and is proper feel-good.

The boy loves a sample. Last time it was the Isley brothers, now it’s Gladys Knight. Enjoy.
