Kallisti – Michael Douglas

As part of his quest to have a decent stab at every type of dance music, d’Eon has now lobbed out a rave-ready sampler from his new project as Kallisti.

‘Michael Douglas’ is straight out of the old hardcore playbook, with skittering beats and euphoric synths. It’s out as part of the ‘Arc of Fire’ release on November 19th on vinyl only via UNO NYC’s white label imprint NORELATION, although those of us with only computers to play music on can download this lead cut here.

Purity Ring – Amenamy (Jon Hopkins Remix)

Two of the poppier acts putting out electronica have come together here, for your aural enjoyment.

Serial collaborator and heir to Eno’s throne Jon Hopkins has worked his magic on Canadian duo Purity Ring’s ‘Shine’, with beautiful results. Listen to it, it’ll make you feel good:

Both collaborators have been on the mixes too recently, with Purity Ring stepping into the Boiler Room in Montreal (with D’Eon and Grown Folk – massive) and Jon Hopkins helming June’s FACT mix. They’re both excellent, espesh Jon’s, and worth a slice of your morning. The FACT mix can be found here and t’other is below:

d’Eon – Al-Qiyamah

Monday, you come so soon. To help you ease into the week, we suggest this nine minute journey from onetime Grimes collaborator (their joint effort – ‘Darkbloom’ – is worth a listen) and all round oddball, d’Eon.

Al-Qiyamah is the first single from his confusingly titled album ‘LP’ and it’s named after the 75th Sura of the Qur’an, which we’re told has to do with resurrection. Out on 5th June on Hippos in Tanks, the single bounces from glitch a la Oneohtrix Point Never to the kind of electro-pop of which Robyn would be proud. Somehow it works.

So (blasphemy alert) roll away the rock and emerge anew to nine minutes of dream-pop.
