Human_Drizzle_flyer_print (1) - CopyAnd the Met Office reckon St Jude was the biggest thing hitting the South-East this week…

Human Drizzle Presents is now a little over 48 hours away. With thunderous looking House, Garage and Disco clouds gathering over SE15, we’ve been extremely busy battening down the hatches, buying supplies and getting the Peckham Palais equipped for you to come and take shelter.

Time is running out for you to reserve your space…so get to it!

Firstly, we have a trio of top DJs to help you through the driving rain and flying garden furniture. We are delighted to welcome Mighty Mouse to Peckham as he makes his Human Drizzle Presents debut. So many great tracks and remixes to be found on his Soundcloud that will warm your cockles and get you in the mood for Friday. Here are a couple we’ve cherry-picked for you…

Our old mucker and Human Drizzle Presents veteran – this is his second appearance – Clancy brings his growing reputation to the Palais. Long-term readers of Human Drizzle will know our affection for Clancy, and it’s hard for us to limit our favourite tracks of his. We’ll go with…

Finally, all the way from a land down under, we welcome the scorching hot Black Magic Disco. The man himself is almost as excited about his performance at Human Drizzle Presents as we are. So much so he has kindly done a mix for us to showcase his skills and get us all buzzing for this Friday. We’re positively vibing off his enthusiasm.

We also introduce newcomer and friend of Human Drizzle, Hot Karl. He’ll be spinning some ‘funky, funky, funky house beats’ for us before the pros take over.

Early bird tickets have now sold out. £7 tickets are available until 6pm on Friday – get them here. If you still haven’t got one by that point, there will be some for a tenner on the door.

We’ve literally thought of everything, so come in from the cold and join us on Friday. We can’t wait to see you all there.

Anticipation at HD HQ for our last party of the year is bubbling up very nicely. In just over two weeks time, we will be welcoming not one, not two, not even three, but four of our favourite DJs to South London’s Peckham Palais. We have Mighty Mouse, Clancy, Black Magic Disco and Hot Karl playing some records for your dancing delectation on Friday 1st November.

Tickets are currently a steal at £5 a pop, so grab ‘em now from the link below, and tell all your mates over here.

As regular readers of HD will know, we’ve been big fans of Mighty Mouse since day one. Over the past few years he’s carved out an excellent reputation for penning feel-good disco house tunes, and we cannot wait to have him headline proceedings on 1st November. Here’s a taster:

Besides his original work, he’s started a compilation series entitled ‘Disco Circus’, has released a string of consistently good mixtapes and been responsible for countless remixes. More recently however, he has formed Du Tonc with Matt Van Schie from Van She. They’ve released one mixtape and written four excellent original tracks, all released on their own label Night Film. ‘Darkness’ could quite possibly be our pop tune of the year. We are stoked to have him playing.

Next up we have Human Drizzle Presents alumnus Clancy. Having totally smashed it at the Bussey Building for our party back in April, we thought we’d get the budding London via Manchester producer back for another slot. He’s released a long list of free-to-download tunes before being recruited by Dirt Crew Recordings to put out his debut EP on their new imprint S P I E L. He’s going from strength to strength.

We also welcome Black Magic Disco all the way from Australia. Having had releases on Toolroom Records and Pole Position Records, he makes 90s garage and house-infused tracks which should be perfect for Peckham’s former department store. He’s known to compile quite the mixtape too, have a listen:

Warming up proceedings from 10pm will be the enigmatic newcomer, Hot Karl.

There’s a whole load of fun to be had. Bag your ticket now and come join us.

Friday 1st November, 10pm – 5am, Peckham Palais.

Clancy – What You Do EP

Dirt Crew Recordings, known for its deep house releases from the likes of Tigerskin, Homework and Mano Le Tough, are pushing things forward and setting up a sub label. It’s called S P I E L and sees the Berlin imprint expand their horizons somewhat, delving into “more genre crossing styles of music in the indie dance and nu-disco field.”

Guess who they’ve recruited to fly the flag for their first release? It’s only your boy, Clancy.

It’s his long-awaited debut EP, it’s out on September 30th and you can pre-order it here. All three of his originals on the EP are understated yet catchy, dancefloor-ready tracks with delicious vocals across the board. As a little bonus, disco aficionado (aficionadisco? No? OK then) Prins Thomas has been commandeered for remix duties.

With another EP coming out in November and more remixes on the way, it’s an exciting time for the UK producer.

P A U L I E – Want You (Clancy Remix)

Essential listening here. Clancy’s got a new remix out and it’s of ‘Want You’ by P A U L I E, one half of Cosmonauts. Anyone who’s been on the roll call at previous Human Drizzle Presents will know, we’re big fans of both artists involved.

After time spent working hard in the studio, it’s great to have Clancy back on the scene with this understated deep house rework. The irresistible piano and rising synths create a sound that’s both euphoric and reflective. As versatile as a young Phil Neville but considerably more attractive, this one could fit many a mood.

We’re informed Clancy’s new EP is coming out in the next few weeks too, we’ll have our eyes peeled.

Clancy – The Way You Dance

You can’t knock his work rate, no more than a month after the contagious ‘All Just In My Mind’, Clancy is giving away another tune ‘The Way You Dance’.

One of our favourite London producers, he’s building quite the repertoire of understated but highly contagious beats. Weaving a beautiful blend of disco and house into his music, Clancy shows again he can pen a tune that will get people moving. Snippets of his tunes are destined for the dancefloor and if you wait until just shy of three and a half minutes into this new one, you’ll see what we mean.

Here are a couple he made earlier:

As mentioned on these pages previously, ‘All Just In My Mind’ was partially released on The Magician’s ‘Magic Tape 31’ earlier this week and now we have the full cut to enjoy, in all its funky Chicago house glory. Who wouldn’t want to throw some shapes to this with a few pals on April 5th?

Clancy – Sleepness Nights

As if we weren’t excited enough to have Clancy playing our night in Peckham on 05/04/13, he’s gone and released this. ‘Sleepness Nights’ is a lovely bit of disco house with a great bassline, some lovely chord progressions and a healthy dose of cowbell. It’s got an end-of-the-night warmth to it that seems befitting as we finally ease our way out of winter and into the promised land of spring. What better time to bag those tickets for 5th April?

Clancy – How To Hold On To You

Back in October, London producer Clancy released a ‘Deep Haze Remix’ of the catchy ‘Little Man’ by Little Dragon. It turned out to be an understated masterpiece, and we’ve been playing it on repeat ever since. It just so happens that his new track ‘How To Hold On To You’ is similarly addictive. It’s full of rising synths and yearning vocals, all supported by a cracking 90s piano riff. What’s more, he’s giving away it for free, just click here to download it. Check it, and his previous jam, below.

Little Dragon – Little Man (Clancy’s Deep Haze Remix)

It warms the cockles to see this remix surface. Not only does Clancy give us a sweet reminder of ‘Ritual Union’, the fantastic album Little Dragon stunned us with back in 2011. But also, he takes the second track off said album and (as it says on the tin) gives it a deep and hazy rework. Laid-back yet urgent, this is an instant classic.

This is the first we’ve heard from Clancy since the latter part of our summer was soundtracked by the fantastic ‘Make Up’ and ‘Lightbox’. Both, we hope you’ll agree, are delightful:

Top 5 Tracks of the Week

1. Krankbrother – Disappear Here: The Brothers Clancy bring the atmos in the B-side to their ‘Dreamscape’ EP. It’s over eight minutes of balearic goodness and joins the Fort Romeau remix we featured last week. Without doubt an EP worth parting ways with your hard-earned cash for.

2. Ten Fe – Twist Your Arm (Lindstrøm and Prins Thomas Remix): The list of guest artists on this Ten-Fe remix EP is ludicrous. UNKLE, Ewan Pearson, Tom Furse and Roman Flugel. They all join this effort from cosmic disco veterans Lindstrøm and Prins Thomas.

3. OCTO CHAMP – Said You Were: OCTO CHAMP, the south London (and occasionally Glaswegian) producer, video director and one half of party series Rigid Disco, is the latest to join the Let’s Go Swimming label ranks. Their fourth release comes in the form of his new four track EP entitled ‘Not Quite Here Yet’. ‘Said You Were’ is the second A-side and the bumping bass, colourful vocal and infectious drum patterns are a tasty teaser of more goodness to come.

Go see him IRL at LGS’ next party at The Waiting Room on Saturday 18th March.

4. Recloose – No I Don’t: Second cut from the Brooklyn-based producer’s forthcoming ‘Spirit Knows’ EP and it’s an earworm. Hits the shelves on Monday, bookmark it.

5. Deltawerk – Corridor (Marvin & Guy Mix): Italian duo Marvin & Guy get the call up for remix duties on Deltawerk’s second EP, serving up a tense ten minute work-out that joins Audiojack’s remix on the release. And the original’s worth a listen too.

The latest instalment in Ninja Tune’s Solid Steel mix series is worth a visit for a trip down memory lane. Metronomy’s Joe Mount rediscovers some of his favourites from seven years ago, whilst peppering the hour with a few newbies too.

For more new music, head over to our SoundCloud for gems this week from Marquis Hawkes, Seb Wildblood and DJ Koze.
