Ben Gomori – Human Drizzle: The Mixtape, September 2015

What a Friday treat we have for you here.

In advance of his set at next week’s Human Drizzle Presents – alongside NVOY and a VVVVIP special guest announced on Monday – your boy Ben Gomori has given us an exclusive recording of his Temple Islands set from Bestival this year. Nothing but big things.

As you’d expect, it’s packed with disco and house hits, the Erol Alkan mix of Connan Mockasin into Caribou’s Our Love was a highlight for us. Big finish too.

Track info is here and you’ll see an exclusive future Monologues Records (Ben G’s label) release peeking through the list – this comes complete with a video of its first ever road test.

We CANNOT wait to see Benz in action next week. You’d be a fool to miss it. Get an advance ticket now for the eminently reasonable £8.

Nick Mulvey – Nitrous (Ben Gomori Redux)

Comrade Ben Gomori has spent the festive period being a busy little bee, obviously. Here is his ‘redux’ of thenextbigthing Nick Mulvey

We’re slightly late on this one – sorry Ben – but it’s really great. Classic Gomori fare, some might say, with its rolling vocal loops and catchy beat that makes you want to hop to your feet and turn that toe-tap into a full blown shuffle. Lovely man that he is, Ben has also stuck a whacking great FREE DOWNLOAD on the Soundcloud page. I think he wants you to click on it.

Ben Gomori – Wanna Hurt U Ft. Carina Riches

Our friend Ben Gomori has been getting a lot of positive feedback from industry luminaries including HNNY for his latest release. Teaming up with 17 year old newcomer Carina Riches, ‘Wanna Hurt U’ has a deep groove beneath that garage beat.

We like Ben and we like this a lot. It’s definitely one that’ll get your feet moving. And it’s out today so go and get it before the weekend lands.

Ben Gomori @ Human Drizzle Presents, 03/08/13

Ben Gomori‘s set was a highlight of our party at The Yard last month and your man BG, being the excellent man that he is, had the presence of mind to record the whole thing. All of which means we can now bring the set to you in full – available to download for free, below. Look out for the Stardust/Croll moment, which will live long in the memory. Exhilarating stuff.

And if you missed the last one and want to experience this kind of magic for yourself, join us IRL for our next party at Peckham Palais on Friday 1st November. Full details coming soon…

Dan Croll – From Nowhere (Ben Gomori’s Staring You In The Eye Remix)

Back in October last year we stumbled across the gem that is Ben Gomori’s ‘Staring You In The Eye’ remix of Dan Croll’s ‘From Nowhere’. It’s a master class of a re-work, and we can’t quite understand why it’s not got the attention it deserves. The piano crescendos are superlative and the tune’s nothing short of totally feel good. What’s quite fun is that today finally sees its vinyl release proper, via London-based SHH Edits. You can purchase it here.

What’s even more exciting is that we’ve managed to persuade Mr Gomori to come spin some records at our next party, Human Drizzle Presents on 3rd August. That’s this Saturday folks. Excitingly we’re throwing the party as part of The Hive Project at the intimate Yard Theatre in Hackney Wick; with two of our other favourite budding London DJs Copy Paste Soul and Vanilla Ace playing too, we’re bursting at the seams. Snap up your tickets and come join the fun:

While you’re there, it may be worth heading over to Pulse Radio. They’ve recently invited Ben Gomori in for their Fresh Blood feature. It sheds some light on his thoughts on the music industry and his own musical background. There’s also a special ‘summer vibes’ mix on there too, which is indeed worth a listen.

Bobby Brown – Two Can Play That Game (Ben Gomori’s 4Play Re-Edit)

Guess what? HD favourite Ben Gomori has only gone and followed up his amusingly-titled recent Justin Timberlake remix with a rework of Bobby Brown’s classic 90s anthem, ‘Two Can Play That Game’. Yeah, we know!

He strings out the opening and keeps you waiting for what is one of the more iconic piano riffs of the last century (or any century for that matter) but it’s worth the wait. The drop at 02:22 is really splendid, and the rest of the track is very nice dancefloor fodder.

For more Ben, listen to his podcast Turned On, and/or (preferably and) his new Chapel Club remix:

Oh, and stay tuned for some exciting Gomori-themed news from us…

Dan Croll – From Nowhere (Ben Gomori Remix)

As featured on Aeroplane’s tardily-delivered and thus appropriately-named ‘No-So-Monthly October Mix’, here’s Ben Gomori’s new remix of Dan Croll’s ‘From Nowhere’. This has been on repeat at HD HQ; pretty much everything about it is instantly catchy – the vocal hooks, piano crescendos and reverberating synths. What’s more, you can download it for free if you click right here. Go for it.

Lee Van Dowski – Elle

Premiered first by Anja Schneider on Radio 1, unleashed online courtesy of Deep House Amsterdam at the end of December and this week praised as a Future Classic by Ben Gomori on his consistently-good Turned On Podcast, feast your ears on Lee Van Dowski’s ‘Elle’.

You may want to add this piano-laden belter to your shopping list, it’s out on Schneider’s Mobilee Records this Friday.

Human Drizzle Presents @ Basing House, 25.09.15

Thanks to all who came down to Basing House for the last Human Drizzle Presents. We loved every minute of it – huge props to Wolf Music, Ben Gomori, NVOY and Hot Karl for dropping all sorts of bombs.

Salif Keita and Jocelyn Brown were two of the more offbeat selections, and it’s been a while since we’ve heard Osunlade in a club. Good times.

First photos below – the rest will be all over our Facebook page shortly.

Human Drizzle Presents @ Basing House – 25.09.15

HD_September_2015_fb_coverHaving recently announced the excellent Wolf Music as headliners joining NVOY, Ben Gomori and Hot Karl for our party this Friday night, we’re limbering up for what is promising to be a night to remember.

Basing House, 10pm on Friday 25th. Get your tickets here.

Although we’ve already featured Wolf Music’s top tunes of the summer, you need look no further than this mix they did for Tim Sweeney’s Beats In Space back in April for the kind of music they like to throw together. You can see the tracklisting here, but highlights would have to come from their own label’s exports, Medlar and Frits Wentink. Not to mention the superb K.98 remix of Thrilogy’s ‘Heaven’, also released on Wolf.

NVOY recently dropped the above infectious piece of future house on Black Butter Records. For the longer listen, check the mix they’ve done for the label’s London’s forthcoming parties below:

Penultimately, check out HD fave Ben Gomori’s exclusive recording of his Bestival set this year. He’s played for us twice before and we can’t wait to have him playing again.

Last but not least. Hot Karl rustled this one up a few weeks ago. A selection of his favourite tracks from the year to get you going.

See you Friday.
