Quadron – Hey Love (Ryan Hemsworth Remix)

To keep you/us going whilst we patiently wait for Ryan Hemsworth’s ‘Guilt Trips’ LP (October 22nd, Last Gang Records), he’s spat out a remix of Quadron’s ‘Hey Love’. The original’s a funky little number (with a video for all you Strictly Come Dancing fans out there) and Ryan’s stripped it back, focusing in on the vocals and a throbbing bass:

If you’re still fidgety for more, here’s a taster from the album. A more straight up-and-down Hemsworth cut featuring Metro Zu’s Lofty 305:

Ryan Hemsworth – Still Awake

We have a well-documented (by us) affection for Canadian beatsmith Ryan Hemsworth, so imagine our delight when he chucked out a FREE EP for our delectation:

It’s seven tracks of relatively poppy electronica with the occasional splash of stunted hip hop percussion to remind us of his roots. Lovely work listening.

Annoyingly the only UK slots for his upcoming One Man Boy Band tour are as part of the Brixton Academy smash-it-up-a-thon The Playground Festival, and supporting Toro Y Moi at Koko, neither of which offers enough time to gaze adoringly at the big guy, we feel.

We’ll probably go to both anyway.

Lana Del Rey – Summertime Sadness (Ryan Hemsworth Remix)

Something short and something long.

Queen Elizabeth II in hospitalNo, not those two (recently seen guarding Queen Lizzie in hospital), we’re talking about HD fave Ryan Hemsworth’s latest offerings.

For those of the shorter attention span, he’s decided to shoulder the inevitable flak and put together a nice little rework of Lana Del Rey’s ‘Summertime Sadness’. It’s a Wedidit special, ramping up the moodiness and toning down the schmaltziness:

And for those of the longer predilection, here’s a recent mix the Canadian did for FADER. It’s pretty gloomy to be honest, with the man himself admitting that he had “post Paris depression” after his all-too-short European tour. Still, there’s a new solo track with a working title/emoji of “(。◕‿◕。)” and a lovely little edit of Broken Social Scene in there to pick everyone up:

Something for everyone.

Rhye – Open (Ryan Hemsworth remix)

It says something when your single can be remixed by Ryan ‘Golden Touch’ Hemsworth and the original not only holds its own but is actually better. That’s the calibre of Rhye’s first single from their debut LP, ‘Open’, something we already had an inkling of after Rhode & Brown’s previous effort. Ryan H does a decent job, not changing too much beyond some Wedidit buzz, but it’s the original that does it for us.

US house-man Maurice Fulton has also had a crack at reworking a Rhye track and it’s funky as hell:

Cat Power – Manhattan (Ryan Hemsworth Remix Ft. Angel Haze)

Ok, we can’t keep it from you any longer. HD favourite Ryan Hemsworth is touring Europe and, for those of you in our fair capital, he’s playing a free gig on Friday at Birthdays. Please don’t come as we’d like to get in. Please.

Get in the mood/placate yourself at not getting in with this charming rework of Cat Power’s ‘Manhatten’. He drafts in the borough’s biggest cheerleader (and hot-as-hell lyricist) Angel Haze to provide a vocal counterpoint to the quirkiness of Ms. Power.

Here’s a decent radio rip of ‘Manhatten’ together with the soaring ‘BasedWorld’ below:

Black Atlass – Castles (Ryan Hemsworth Remix)

Another hot one from your boy Ryan Hemsworth here. Keeping it Canadian, he’s done a job on Ontario resident Black Atlass‘s ‘Castle’, the standout tune from his impressive debut EP of the same name.

The Wedidit associate has done what he does best on this one, taking a tune that’s already pretty low-end and hazy, and making it more so. His trap stylings accentuate the moody atmosphere that makes Alex Fleming’s EP such a compelling listen. It’s the kind of tune that is accompanied on youtube by a picture of a scantily clad, sultry looking model.

And here’s Ryan’s FACT mix again, just because it’s THAT good.

The 1975 – Sex (Ryan Hemsworth Remix)

The Internet, we salute you. In this case, we’re not talking of woozy Odd Future side-project, we’re offering thanks to the worldwide web for allowing Canadian remix specialist and HD pin-up Ryan Hemsworth to rework Manchester-based indie-rockers The 1975‘s new single, ‘Sex‘. With predictably great results. Hemsworth sands down the stadium rock edges and focuses the listener on frontman Matt Healy’s emotive vocals:

And here’s the original, which we’re pretty impressed with too:

As a bonus, Ryan has just offered up his Wedidit mix staple Jerimih remix for free too. Listen below and download it here.

UPDATE: Thanks to Abeano, we now have head house honcho Hackman‘s take on ‘Sex’, and it’s a contender:

Prefer? Or unprefer?

Ryan Hemsworth – Fact mix 352

Something a little lengthier for you today, might even take you through to elevenses. We’ve been big fans of the rather hunky Ryan Hemsworth for a while, from his early Main Attrakionz production work through to his genuinely excellent recent EP, ‘Last Words’. Our fellow Hemsworth fanboys over at FACT have now let him spread his wings with their latest FACT mix and he hasn’t let them down:

It sounds to us like the next evolutionary stage after crooners like Frank Ocean and How to Dress Well, brilliantly blending slow-jams with noisy electronica and growly trap-rap. We expect big things from this guy, starting with a European tour please…

Ryan Hemsworth – Overthinking (Supreme Cuts Mix)

Upcoming Canadian producer Ryan Hemsworth is part of Wedidit Collective, whose members also include master of understatement and Human Drizzle favourite, Shlohmo.

Hemsworth’s dreamy blend of hip hop beats and electronic soundscapes seem like a suitable way to ease into what is a gloriously sunny evening from where we’re sitting (central London, if you must know). It’s Ryan’s HD debut (we hear he’s made up about it) but it’s not the first time we’ve featured Supreme Cuts – who rework the lovely original into something which is altogether more frenetic but still joyfully fuzzy.

Sigur Rós – Rafstraumur (Cyril Hahn Remix)

Everyone’s favourite Swiss, Cyril Hahn, continues his excellent run of form by tackling a remix of Icelandic atmosphere merchants, Sigur Rós.

‘Rafstraumur’, or ‘Electric’ if Google’s Icelandic translation tool is accurate, has all the hallmarks one would expect from a Hahn release. Urgent with a great beat, accessible without being too poppy, and that tinge of sadness that seems to run through all of his tracks. Certainly, it should stoke the already raging inferno that is his fan base.

Cyril and his pal Ryan Hemsworth are continuing their joint quest for global domination, with the US currently receiving the treatment. Fear not though; if you somehow managed to miss Mr Hahn this summer, he has a veritable plethora of UK dates between now and Crimbo.
