Röyksopp and Robyn – Monument

The two Rs, obyn and öyksopp, have put out a cosmic video for ‘Monument’ from their recent collaboration. It’ll pull you in like the tune behind it:

Director Max Vitali says, “The video is about exploring the space around you and in you and finding your own space within it all. Half real, half fantasy. The way I see film is as a hybrid of technology and emotions, and hopefully there’s an artistic vision there as well. In a way that is what Röyksopp & Robyn also do, they merge something real with something computer generated to create bigger landscapes than possible without the help of technology.”

Which is kind of what we said right? Either way, the tune’s our favourite on the album and it deserves a poncey video.

Röyksopp & Robyn – Do It Again (Moullinex Remix)

A frivolous mood has taken HD Towers. It must be the sun.

This remix from Moullinex is good, honest, hands-in-the-air electro:

We’ve always had a soft spot for Robyn (ever since a kids breakfast TV interview with her pop star pre-incarnation, conducted by yours truly) and her ‘Body Talk’ album deserved every plaudit it got. Now we’re getting all hot and bothered about a new mini-album with Röyksopp, the title track being the above-remixed ‘Do It Again’.

All stirring stuff.

d’Eon – Al-Qiyamah

Monday, you come so soon. To help you ease into the week, we suggest this nine minute journey from onetime Grimes collaborator (their joint effort – ‘Darkbloom’ – is worth a listen) and all round oddball, d’Eon.

Al-Qiyamah is the first single from his confusingly titled album ‘LP’ and it’s named after the 75th Sura of the Qur’an, which we’re told has to do with resurrection. Out on 5th June on Hippos in Tanks, the single bounces from glitch a la Oneohtrix Point Never to the kind of electro-pop of which Robyn would be proud. Somehow it works.

So (blasphemy alert) roll away the rock and emerge anew to nine minutes of dream-pop.
