Jerome LOL – Always Ft Sara Z

As paid-up fans of the sadly-departed LOL Boys, we at HD were always going to take great interest in what Jerome LOL did next. Well…..

‘Always’ is the first cut from his ‘Deleted/Fool’ EP, out on Friends of Friends 04/02, and it’s a shuffling, upbeat four minutes featuring the vocal talents of Sara Z. Whets the appetite nicely for the EP, we’d say.

Whilst this is his first solo EP, he’s not been lounging around this past year. He self-released two, dancier (yup, it’s a word) singles that are both worth a listen, check ‘em out:

Classixx – Holding On (Jerome LOL Remix)

Jerome LOL returns with a remix of Classixx’s ‘Holding On’, once again showing his natural ability to turn the tempo down and add that something a little bit special. This is a slow jam gone funky. Needless to say, in our humble opinion, the original has proven to be one of the catchiest pop songs of the year thus far.

Ever since LOL Boys took a hiatus from the game and Jerome LOL focused not only on the Body High label he co-runs, but also his own production skills, the boy’s come into his own. Do you people remember his Tomas Barford remix we waxed lyrical about? Worth a revisit wethinks, it’s super:

Tomas Barfod – November Skies (Jerome LOL & Nite Jewel Remixes)

Friends of Friends are releasing an EP of remixes of Tomas Barfod’s ‘November Skies’ on 26th November and here is the piercingly beautiful effort from Jerome LOL.

A real delight, we hope you’ll agree. The co-owner of label Body High gives the original a whimsical edge in re-pitching Nina Kinert’s vocals and stretching out proceedings a little. However not as impressively robust as another stand-out from the EP in Nite Jewel’s rework.

Both are very good reasons to revisit the enchanting original:

DJ Dodger Stadium – You Don’t Have To Be Alone

Encapturing a similar vibe to ‘Love Songs’, the stand-out from their debut album last year, the co-founders of LA-based label Body High do love a vocal loop. DJ Dodger Stadium aka Jerome LOL & Samo Sound Boy are back with this feel-good house track ‘You Don’t Have To Be Alone’. Big earworm this one:

D33J – Slow Ft. Kreyola

We’ve been a bit quiet on the Wedidit front for a while so it’s a pleasure to be back in the groove with this shadowy cut from D33J:

The Soundcloud description is worth a minute of your time, it gives you a comprehensive idea of where the tune came from. His building and his neighbours (vocalist Kreyola) basically.

This also gives us a reason to post this Jerome LOL rework of D33J’s ‘Park’ which hit the web earlier in the year. Not that we need a reason, ‘cos it’s great:

Ghostpoet – Cold Win (Lorca remix)

London and Brighton’s Lorca has done a top job with the remix of ‘Cold Win’ by Ghostpoet. Found on the B-side as part of the original release that came out on August 26th, you can track it down on iTunes (and probably other online music vending portals). We came across it because HD fave Midland casually claimed it was probably the remix of the year. As you well know, we’re not ones for hyperbole (!) or favouritism (wait for our annual ‘Top 10’ for that), and it’s very difficult to choose THE BEST, especially when you consider this, this and this…and then of course there’s this. All of those could be seen as contenders, plus a shed load more, but we’re not going to go tête à tête with a man who has provided us with so many great moments himself this year. So, we’ll leave it for you to decide where it ranks. What is clear is that Lorca has killed it, following up on last year’s refix of the Bixel BoysLove Like This’ which brought him to the forefront of people’s minds, after his early work earned him praise from various top producers. We hope you enjoy the atmospheric ‘Cold Win’ as much as we and Midland did.
