Hudson Mohawke – Brainwave

It’s ok guys, the weekend’s here.

Feeling a little sore-headed after thinking the weekend started today? This new one from Hudson Mohawke should help. ‘Brainwaves’ moves away from the glitchy abrasiveness of ‘Chimes’, our other taster from his upcoming Warp EP, and paints a picture for you. Soaring choral backing nicely compliments an ambient loop that never drops and is all the better for it.

If you like your HudMo a little longer and more dancefloor, enjoy this recent Boiler Room you animal:

DCUP – Don’t Be Shy (Wave Racer Remix)

A little late to the party on this one; but it’s a party Down Under you don’t wanna miss. Oz beatsmith Wave Racer has tweaked fellow Oz producer DCUP’s ‘Don’t Be Shy’ into a totally bonkers tour-de-force of a tune.

Removing the bubblegum pop of the original and filling out the tune with trap undertones, this is a synth fireworks show that’s going to brighten up your day. It may not be that original being not dissimilar from the maximal tones of HudMo and Rustie, but it’s got our attention and it deserves yours.

S-Type – Rosario

Couple of LuckyMe gems here. Straight up diamonds, no rough involved.

First up is another uplifting piece of video game electronica from Glasgow’s S-Type, ripped from labelmate Eclair Fifi’s Radio One show last week. ‘Rosiari’ hits the electronic shelves soon, all packaged up as LM017:

Also getting an airing on the ‘In New DJs We Trust’ starlet’s show was the full-length version of HudMo’s remix of Jackson and his Computer Band’s ‘Vista’:

Both are hi-vis, high fizz bursts of dance music, and they deserve a listen.

And what a line-up:

Hudson Mohawke – Slow Jams Chapter VI

Dim those lights, scatter those rose petals and fire up the laptop (for Human Drizzle, nothing else…), it’s Valentine’s Day and that means another Hudson Mohawke ‘Slow Jams’ mix.

‘Slow Jams Chapter VI’ (he started them all the way back in 2008) is the LuckyMe stalwart’s contribution to the romantic timbre of today and it’s essential. For those of you who haven’t heard one before, the mixes are genuinely comprised of old school slow jams and soppy soul, no surprise TNGHT bangers to ruin the mood…

Head over to the amazing dedicated mini-site to download it. In HudMo’s own words, “This mix goes into some extreme wavy red shoe diary heavy petting directions”. Which sounds good to us.
