Happa – Ascension

Since a disgustingly young Happa came on the scene at 15 years old, he’s been honing a sound that’s always been interesting if not cohesive. He’s made some headway with this one:

‘Ascension’ is the latest track from the ‘PART 1’ EP, out now on PT/5 Records, and it’s a cut of ravey techno (featuring a niche sample of The Fall) that will be cropping up in sets for the rest of the summer. Championed by Four Tet and others, the boy’s coming of age nicely.

LEAF 2013

Now, we don’t usually give the announcement of a new festy a quadruple take, but this one caught our eye.
LEAF is a London-based three-dayer celebrating the city’s electronic music heritage. It pushes all our buttons with talks from luminaries such as Giorgio Moroder and New Order right through to upstarts like Eats Everything and Happa. Major Lazer, Trentmoller and Omar Souleyman chip in with live sets, and we could go on but it’s becoming Buzzfeed-esque (“17 events you wish you could go to, but  can’t!”)
LEAF is helmed by veteran selector Rob da Bank, together with International Music Summit creator Ben Turner, and you can get your tickets and further info here.
Here are some tunes to whet your appetite, if you needed it whetting any more:

Disclosure Red Bull

With Disclosure‘s debut album set to drop in the spring, their steady path to global domination continues apace – and with the launch of three new flavours (or Editions) of Red Bull’s energy juice, the brothers have been asked by RB to curate the line-up for a special party at Great Suffolk Street Warehouse in London this Friday.

And what a line-up:

                • Disclosure (live)
                • Todd Edwards
                • Voyeur
                • Shadow Child B2B Friend Within
                • Medlar B2B Leon Vynehall
                • Happa

Tickets are sold out but keep your eyes peeled on Twitter for spares – and in the meantime, tuck into some Disclosure highlights, including HudMo‘s splendid remix of ‘White Noise’.
