Jessie Ware – Tough Love (Cyril Hahn Remix)

Cyril Hahn is back adding his dancefloor-ready touch to Jessie Ware’s recent single ‘Tough Love’. Most probably brought about by Hahn’s recent signing to the PMR Records clan, it’s a decent match up and the tune’s sure to be popular. Original’s out 3rd August.

Cyril Hahn – Getting There

Get some Cyril back in your life with this new one from PMR‘s Swiss smooth grooves specialist:

As on his previous delights, Cyril moulds and massages a vocal house base track into a drawn-out, almost tantric six minutes. It’s nothing drastically different from ‘Perfect Form‘ or its predecessors, but who cares?

Oh, and it’s free to download here. Cheers.

Cyril Hahn & Javeon – Breaking

This unsurprisingly smooth collaboration between Cyril Hahn and Javeon is the first we’ve heard from PMR Records’ exciting project, ’20 Square Feet In Acton’. It’s the London-based label’s first ever compilation, featuring records that influenced the label as well as previously unheard tracks from the PMR family. Considering the calibre of previous acts on the roster, this is one to keep your ear to the ground for.

What’s also great is that they’re doing a tour this April to coincide – Manchester, Glasgow, Paris and London will play host to T. Williams, Cyril Hahn, Javeon and special guest, Lone. Stay tuned for that one.

Sigur Rós – Rafstraumur (Cyril Hahn Remix)

Everyone’s favourite Swiss, Cyril Hahn, continues his excellent run of form by tackling a remix of Icelandic atmosphere merchants, Sigur Rós.

‘Rafstraumur’, or ‘Electric’ if Google’s Icelandic translation tool is accurate, has all the hallmarks one would expect from a Hahn release. Urgent with a great beat, accessible without being too poppy, and that tinge of sadness that seems to run through all of his tracks. Certainly, it should stoke the already raging inferno that is his fan base.

Cyril and his pal Ryan Hemsworth are continuing their joint quest for global domination, with the US currently receiving the treatment. Fear not though; if you somehow managed to miss Mr Hahn this summer, he has a veritable plethora of UK dates between now and Crimbo.

Cyril Hahn – Raw Cut

The proof is in the pudding. In this case, specifically the Swiss roll.

Bern-born Cyril Hahn has comprehensively confounded critics who said he was a one-trick remix pony with his upcoming release on label du jour PMR. We’ve already raved about ‘Perfect Form’ and now the b-side ‘Raw Cuts’ has us in pieces:

He also seems like a thoroughly nice chap if this Noisey interview is anything to go by.

Do Cyril a favour, and justify that opening gag, by picking up a copy on 7th October…

Cyril Hahn – Perfect Form ft. Shy Girls

Congrats Cyril, congrats.

After building a formidable reputation in the remix hinterlands, Cyril Hahn landed himself a deal with everyone’s favourite dance music label, PMR Records. The first fruits of this union are online now and ‘Perfect Form’ continues where the reworks left off; a RnB-flecked piece of future house with a serious groove underneath it. Vocal support is provided by kindred soul Shy Girls:

PMR are having a stormer of a month, check out this teaser for a new T. Williams EP that they cheekily slipped out a couple of days ago:

They’re on a hot streak!

Gabrielle Aplin – Please Don’t Say You Love Me (Cyril Hahn Remix)

Couple of exciting bits of Cyril Hahn news for ya; a new tune and the chance to hear it live!

His latest rework, this time of festive troubadour Gabrielle Aplin (her version of ‘The Power of Love’ soundtracked John Lewis’s latest brain-washer), continues in the same vein as previous successes. Cyril brings his urgent, melodic feel to the tune, infusing it with “a dreamy sense of nostalgia”, as i-D Magazine put it.

For something a little meatier, check out his recent mini-mix for Rob da Bank on Radio One too:

And, as tipped on these pages last month, Cyril has now announced dates for his European tour in February/March of this year. These will sell out before you can Say My Name so get yourselves signed up for the announcement ASAP. Do that HERE.

HAIM – Don’t Save Me (Cyril Hahn Remix)

Another fresh one from our man in Vancouver, Cyril Hahn. This time he’s taken on the genre-clash sisters, Haim:
It’s a bit livelier, this one. Shades of some of our favourite mid noughties jump-up electro, without losing Cyril’s signature flow. Plus, for all our UK readers, we hear he’ll be round these parts in February/March so keep your eyes peeled for that. We’ll let you know when we hear more.
And, for a bonus point, here’s a sensual, RnB heavy mix he did for Gotta Dance Dirty last month, chockablock with tunes. The interview with it ain’t bad either; Worst thing about Canada? “Good cheese is way too expensive here…”

Alpines – Chances (Cyril Hahn Remix)

It’s getting silly now.

Our excessive man crush on Cyril Hahn is set to continue after we stumbled across another beauty. Cyril is Switzerland born-and-raised (but Canada is where he now spends most of his days), and we’re going to go out on a limb and say he is the finest Swiss-Canadian producer in the business right now.

On this track he has torn his attention from the Knowles sisters for long enough to tweak ‘Chances‘ by London-based new kids on the block (and HD favourites) Alpines.

The result is wonderful. Not only does it retain the brilliance of the original but Hahn brings to it the same atmospheric vibe that is such a hallmark of his other reworks. More please.

Solange – Losing You (Cyril Hahn Remix)

Having blown us away with his remix of Destiny Child’s ‘Say My Name’ last month, Cyril Hahn has now done the business on the pop tune of the moment; ‘Losing You’ by the lovely Solange. There’s a joke here about Cyril working his magic on the Knowles sisters but we’re not making it. Nope.

By stripping away some of the punchiness but retaining its warmth, Hahn has created yet another piece of music made for repetition. Remind yourself of the brilliant original and check out Hahn’s edit below, top stuff.
