Kate Bush – Running Up That Hill (Real Nice’s Big Bush Edit)

It’s two weeks until Human Drizzle Presents crashes into your lives again and here’s the tastiest of tasters to get the juices flowing:

Headliners Real Nice have pulled together a ‘Big Bush’ edit of Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill’ and it’ll get the legs pumping. It shows off the eclecticism we’re looking forward to hearing more of on the 25th, with a weighty dancefloor spirit to boot.

The best bit? They’ve made it available ALL FOR FREE in anticipation of our journey to Bar A Bar. Basically, it’d be rude not to download it and even ruder not to pick up a ticket for Spring’s breakout party.

See you and Real Nice down the front.

Real Nice presents: Cassius @ Pulse, 04.05.14

This bank holiday weekend sees the good people at Real Nice take over London’s cavernous Pulse club on the banks of the River Thames for a monstrous early summer party. They’ve teamed up with plate-spinning bible Mixmag and Anglo-French party people L’Afternoon for a Sunday night extravaganza that sees pioneering French house outfit Cassius perform their first London show for three years.

Cassius have produced for a huge range of artists over the past 20 (yes, 20) years, from Kindness and Phoenix to MC Solaar and Drake – alongside creating eight albums of their own. And the Ed Banger duo are also responsible for the original tracks behind two of our favourite remixes of recent years (in ‘The Sound of Violence’ and ‘I Love You So’).

For a taste of Real Nice’s vibe, meanwhile, check out their latest release. It’s a meaty EP from none other than Benedict Jackson, creator of January’s Human Drizzle mixtape. It’s absolutely excellent:

It looks like a lot of fun and, best of all, we are offering you the chance to go for free. Hooray! We estimate it will take between three and five seconds to enter, so head to our Facebook page and get involved.

Real Nice presents: Monkey Safari

Real Nice

If you find you find yourself out and about in London this weekend (it happens), you would be well-advised to head down to Real Nice‘s party at Crucifix Lane. True to form, they have looked far and wide when putting together the line-up for this one – and have lured Monkey Safari all the way from Halle in Germany to south east London. The fraternal double act promise to put on quite a show – tuck into recent single ‘Watching the Stars’ for a taste of what to expect.

Support comes from Sixth Avenue Express, who impressed at the last Human Drizzle shindig at Bar 512 and whose ‘I See’ EP meanders from measured house to disco bonanza in a way that your ears will really appreciate. Give it a spin below, and get yourself down to this party tomorrow night if you happen to be in London.

Real Nice Presents…

We don’t need to tell you Xmas is the season of goodwill. It’s a time for giving and it’s a time for parties.

We do need to tell you, however, that London-based label and DJ duo Real Nice are very much getting into the spirit of things and living up to their moniker.

Capping off a decent year releasing records in style, they’re currently giving away seven days worth of free music – they kicked off proceedings yesterday. On the team sheet we’re treated to the likes of Benedict Jackson, eLDOKO, A&O and the duo themselves. Many of those involved have featured on these pages before, and we’ll give you a gentle reminder next week when their generous offering is drawing to a close. Otherwise give them a follow on Twitter to get a day-by-day account. Check out yesterday’s for a taster:

More importantly – the weekend. This Friday sees Real Nice take over the excellent Loft Studios in North West London for what looks set to be their biggest event this year.

Pleasurekraft will be headlining and an extensive Real Nice Recordings line-up will be in support – Benedict Jackson, Croz & Krywald and Real Nice. Check out the following for a tasty selection of what to expect. And while you’re listening, head over here to bag your ticket now before they run out – this one’s gonna be popular.

Mixtapes – Zimmer, Real Nice & Charles Murdoch

Any of you lot looking to plug in for a longer listen, here’s our pick of the best mixes out there right now.

Parisian producer Zimmer has recently unleashed his August mixtape, ‘La Crique’. It’s his ‘take on the perfect pool party mixtape’ and it’s just shy of an hour’s worth of sunny delights. You can get this one for free on his Soundcloud right here.

After impressing them with their DJ slot at Ibiza’s Space last month, The Fat! Club recruited London-based duo Real Nice to take the 68th slot in their mix series. Some party tunes in here. Again, this one’s yours for free here.

Lastly, i-D online have commandeered one-to-watch from Down Under Charles Murdoch to fill an hour. The Future Classic recruit delivers ‘some smooth sounds to soothe the soul’ – this one’s stripped back and downbeat, and well worth the listen.

Human Drizzle Presents @ Bar A Bar, 25.04.2015

Party time: Human Drizzle Presents is back.

HD_March2015_flyer_digital_v2 (1)On Saturday 25th April, we’ll be taking over Bar A Bar on Stoke Newington Road for six hours of the best that London’s young DJing elite can throw at us. What’s more, HDP version 8.0 will be the first instalment of a high-calibre series of Human Drizzle parties coming your way this year.

Earlybird tickets are just £6, available from Resident Advisor.

We’ve worked hard over the winter to curate a line-up of really exciting artists, all of whom are making big waves in the capital, the UK and beyond. Real Nice and Benedict Jackson have long been on our radar and we’re delighted to have them join Human Drizzle for the first time. And when we first heard Anna Wall at Oval Space last October, we were in contact the very next day about getting her onboard.

From humble beginnings DJing and throwing parties all across Bristol and London, to more recent years producing their own music and running their own label, Real Nice have made an impressive mark on the underground music scene and we can’t wait to see them on the ones and twos. We love this mix they did for Mixmag last year.

We’re also really excited to have Benedict Jackson bringing his combination of disco and house to the night. His mixes show a diverse range of old and new, with as many classics included as there are current club bangers. This, his latest mix, is no exception and hot off the press to boot…

Anna Wall has been making a name for herself since moving back to London after stints in Berlin and Ibiza. Whilst on her travels, she’s chalked up some big slots in the booth at some of Europe’s most respected clubs, including regular playing time at ://about blank in Berlin. A summer on the road beckons and it’s great she found time to party with us before setting off. Below is a taster of what she’ll be bringing to Human Drizzle Presents.

A night in a sweaty darkened room wouldn’t be complete without the looming presence and eargasmic selections of our resident Hot Karl. When he starts his set, the punters haven’t arrived; by the time he’s finished, they’re all in the smoking area. A true professional.

Only things left to do are (i) buy a ticket here and (ii) tell your pals about it over here.

Slothboogie @ The Cat & Mutton, 03.04.14

Londoners really are spoilt this bank holiday weekend. With Real Nice attracting Cassius across La Manche to play on Sunday night at Pulse, the extended weekend leaves plenty of room for an afternoon session on Saturday. If you’re in the market for one, the kind people at Slothboogie are putting on just such an affair at newly-refurbished London Fields boozer, the Cat & Mutton. We suggest you check your ex isn’t going here, then make the necessary arrangements. To get you in the mood, here’s their blissed-out summer mix, somewhat optimistically posted a few weeks ago.

Human Drizzle: The Mixtape, January 2014 | Benedict Jackson

We’re excited Benedict Jacksonto announce a new feature on Human Drizzle. Every month we will bring you an exclusive mixtape from one of our favourite artists. First up is Benedict Jackson, whose April EP was the debut release from wave-making London DJ duo (and label), Real Nice (Recordings).

We saw Benedict at Loft Studios before Christmas and fell in love with his sound – which is nicely represented on this mix: from hands-in-the-air disco to moody deep house via Skeelo (yep), it’s the best 90 minutes you will spend today. Tuck in.

eLDOKO – Flur EP

Quick off the mark, London-based Real Nice Recordings have already unleashed their second release. It comes in the form of eLDOKO’s three track ‘Flur’ EP  and was out this week. It’s difficult not to mention that eLDOKO was one of the chaps behind what is fast becoming a very good reason to make that annual visit to North Wales, Gottwood Festival. Besides organising this, he knows how to throw a beat around. Title track ‘Flur’ is our pick of the two originals on the EP, the funky vocal loops accompany the jackin’ house nicely. It’s worth checking out the Benedict Jackson remix of this one too, if you’re willing to go a little deeper that is. (We like this guy, check out RNR’s first release…)

However what really caught our attention was the free download Real Nice Recordings have served up for the price of a ‘Like’ here. It’s a co-write with eLDOKO entitled ‘Thuggin’’ and is a smooth slice of deep house, again with a top vocal. Really enjoying this one:

If you’re in London town this evening, they’ve got an EP launch party on Kingsland Road’s The Shelter. Get on down.
