Detroit Swindle – Hows Music

Detroit Swindle are back bringing the NRG with this funky, high-tempo cut from their forthcoming ‘In Reverse’ EP. It’s out on 29th February on their flourishing Heist Recordings label, stay tuned for the three tracks that accompany it.

Pedestrian – Circadian Rhythms

This concept EP from Pedestrian is definitely one for the collection.

Each track from ‘Circadian Rhythms’ represents a different time of day throughout the 24 hour cycle, with the 12” divided into a ‘Day Side’ and a ‘Night Side’. From the hazy beginnings of ‘Simple Minded At Dawn’ right through to closing track ‘JNT’, the stirring Maribou State collaboration that works its way around an intense African vocal loop, Pedestrian applies his usual organic approach bringing together a diverse range of sounds in this excelent, cyclical concept EP.

The EP will set you back a mere £8 and serves as the first release on Pedestrian and Maribou State’s very own label, Dama Dama.

Throwing Snow – Axioms

London-based all round boss man Throwing Snow has unveiled a limited edition vinyl pressing on Fabric’s imprint label, Houndstooth. This delightful little package comes in a snowflake pattern PVC sleeve and features all of his six tracks released throughout 2015 from three different EPs, along with two locked grooves created specifically for the release.

There are just 500 copies out there, so get your skates on. ‘Seren’, ‘Glower’ and ‘Xema’ are standouts for us, but head over to his SoundCloud to hear all six.

Human Drizzle: The Playlist, February 2016

January seems like a distant memory now, which is no bad thing. There were, however, an abundance of great new tunes released that we simply couldn’t let slip under the radar.

Midland’s side-project AKASE finally released their excellent debut LP, one of our favourite German producers Lauer kicked off the year with a bang and London-based Seb Wildblood prepped the release of his new cassette, ‘U’. HD regulars Klaves, Fort Romeau, Maribou State and many more also feature.

It’s a good one! Enjoy x

Human Drizzle Presents @ Basing House – 26.02.16

Just two weeks now until we return to the intimate and slightly sweaty confines of Basing House for our first party of 2016. We’re excited. Come join us by spending just six pounds on a ticket to dance the night away to three of our favourite selectors:

FB Cover Photo

If you’re unaware of Mr. Beatnick, he’s received high praise for his releases on Don’t Be Afraid and Tief, and his NTS Radio show is going from strength to strength. He’s a producer, DJ, music journalist and record label owner and we’re very much looking forward to his set on the 26th:

Regular readers will know we’ve had our eyes on Brighton producer Lorca for a while. With dynamic releases on 2020 Vision, Church and Breach’s Naked Naked label, there’s a pulsing, tribal element to his music and he’s most definitely one of the most underrated producers out there.

As always, our resident Hot Karl will be setting the scene with a healthy dose of what’s been pushing his buttons in 2016. Get a flavour for his taste in our new feature, Some Like It Hot, Karl.

There’s a lotta fun to be had, grab a ticket now and see you down the front.

Kidnap Kid – Birds That Fly

Kidnap Kid continues his exploration of emotive productions in new single, ‘Birds that Fly’, a slick and considered number that’s due to be the first release on his very own label of the same name, Birds That Fly Records.

Keep your ears peeled for the flip side to said release, ‘Moments’. It’s a juicy, heartfelt five minutes with accompanying instrumental mix too.

Last but not least, for anyone across any of the ponds be sure to check out Kidnap Kid on his gargantuan tour across the US, Australia and New Zealand if you can.

Hawkes & Blake – Flip A Coin

2nd release of 2016 for Aus Music and it’s a good one!

Having dropped the ‘Stormy Search’ EP just last year, dream team (Marquis) Hawkes and (Timothy) Blake have joined forces again to unleash ‘Flip A Coin’ ahead of their ‘Love Precipitation’ EP. There’s a lot going on in this flamboyant affair with its jazzy piano, 90s garage undertones and stabbing synths throughout. It’s ace.

The EP’s out 12th February.

Garden City Movement – My Only Love (Jaakko Eino Kalevi Remix)

Another compilation’s popped up on our radar. BLDG5 Records have gathered talent from across the globe to help compile their new 13-track release, ‘Nightingale Floor’.

We were drawn instantly to the slow disco of Jaakko Eino Kalevi’s remix of Garden City Movement’s ‘My Only Love’:

As well as the Tel Aviv trio appearing not once, not twice but thrice on said release, Londoners William Arcane and Al Dobson Jr also feature, alongside this balearic pop number from Domenique Dumont – a relative of the Duke somewhere down the line no doubt…

More details on the release here.

Jonas Rathsman – Cobalt

Jonas Rathsman brings it in hard for his debut outing on Solomun’s Diynamic label. ‘Cobalt’ is a driving tour-de-force that’s due to be released on the sixth instalment of the label’s compilation ‘Four To The Floor’.

Hits the shelves Friday 5th February.
