Aphrohead – Grown Man Cryy (Carl Craig ‘Brainy Grimlin’ Remix)

Ok, let’s get this Thursday started.

Aphrohead, aka Felix Da Housecat for all you 90s heads out there, has recently put out his first LP in over a decade and he’s pulled in the-man-who-needs-no-intro Carl Craig to rework one of the tracks, ‘Grown Man Cryy’.

The ‘Brainy Grimlin’ remix (us neither) is nine minutes of muscular techno that kicks into life with some old-fashioned bleeps at 4:40. Essentially, these two still very much have “it” and “it” is on full display here.

Fort Romeau – Unititled

Your boy Fort Romeau and Warm head honcho Ali Tillet have gone and set up a new label called Cin Cin, aiming to provide a series of split 12″s which will feature some of their friends old and new. Sounds good to us.

First up FR himself unleashes this dreamy techno number. Stay tuned for the flip side, which is due to feature Nick Hoppner.

For more on the South London producer, a recent Dekmantel podcast featured Fort Romeau’s set at Corsica Studios from a few months back. You can stream the thing below, that’s if you’ve got a spare SIX HOURS. He played some of his favourites all night long…

Sailor & I – Leave The Light On (Kidnap Kid Remix)

We’ve been enjoying the slightly deeper direction Kidnap Kid’s been heading of late. He’s added some finesse to Sailor & I’s ‘Leave The Light On’. It’s out now on Ultra Music’s sub-label The Invention of Loneliness Records, and you can get it right here.

Human Drizzle: The Playlist, October 2015

This month’s playlist feels very seasonal, very autumn-winter collection. If this were our English GCSE coursework we might even crowbar in a misuse of ‘pathetic fallacy’.

Whatever. There’s some dreamy, horizon-expanding electronica from Thrupence on there, guiding you through a classic Lindstrøm disco remix to the basement sounds of Bicep and George Fitz.

Bumpf over, give it a listen…

Soccer96 – Flight Formation (Danny Krivit Edit)

One for the vinyl heads.

The whole ‘Flight Formation’ package has been floating around for months now. It consists of Brighton outfit Soccer96‘s wonderful original, Glenn Astro’s DJ Friendly Edit and this cheeky number from Danny Krivit. The tune’s got that well-thought-out and finely-crafted feel that all instant classics do, and considering the jazzy affair’s finally seeing a vinyl release we thought it was worth a post.

It seems apt that our pals over at Wotnot Music are releasing this. If you’re unfamiliar with the London-based label, they’ve established a solid rep for creativity having had previous releases from K-15, Henry Wu and Deft.

Looking ahead they’ve got a lot on their plates to be excited about, with new material from Danny Clark, the Gent Mason-produced Tabanca and the below.

‘Do What You Do’ is by Aurora Dee Raynes (collab between Touchy Subject and Danielle Kranendonk) and Thump describing it as ‘the best acid trip you never took‘ should be enough to make you press play.

Human Drizzle Presents @ Basing House, 25.09.15

Thanks to all who came down to Basing House for the last Human Drizzle Presents. We loved every minute of it – huge props to Wolf Music, Ben Gomori, NVOY and Hot Karl for dropping all sorts of bombs.

Salif Keita and Jocelyn Brown were two of the more offbeat selections, and it’s been a while since we’ve heard Osunlade in a club. Good times.

First photos below – the rest will be all over our Facebook page shortly.

Roland Tings – Hedonist

Melbourne-based Roland Tings is back with his finely crafted style of euphoric yet well-measured beats. ‘Hedonist’, which he describes as ‘summertime on top of a mountain in the Australian bush distilled down into 8 mins of swirling digi synths’, is the first cut form his forthcoming EP.

It’s due out early next year on Soothsayer, so keep your ears peeled for that one. In the meantime he’s setting out on a mega US tour supporting the likes of AlunaGeorge, Cyril Hahn and Classixx. Check his Facebook for dates.

And for one he’s made earlier? Turn this one up to 11.

Bicep – Malima

Brace yourself for this tight and tense offering from Bicep. It’s out on 26th October and is part of a charity fundraiser CD compiled by Craigie Knowes, a Glaswegian label that’s donating all profits from this one to War Child. Check out the full line-up on the release here.

Fold – Calmer Mood

Super-cool sounds coming from NTS resident Fold on his inaugural release on Aus Music.

‘Calmer Mood’ joins two other originals on the nicely-named ‘Netflix & Chill’ EP, with Kassem Mosse bringing the heat on the ‘Dreamscape’ remix:

Touch Sensitive – Pizza Guy (Sau Poler Remix)

‘Pizza Guy’ is Future Classic’s rose that refuses to wilt. The original was released over two years ago back in April 2013. It was remixed back then by HD fave Lauer, and now this dreamy effort from Sau Poler is part of yet another remix package including versions from Sage Caswell, I:Cube and Fantastic Man. All decent and worth checking out. For a trip down memory lane, here are those two from 2013:
