The Yorkshire Dales don’t see nothing like it.
In two weeks time we’re fortunate enough to be going to Beacons Festival. It takes place on the FUNkirk Estate in Skipton from 7th – 10th August and is without doubt one of the stand-outs of the year in the UK festival calendar.
It’s remarkably only in its third year, and 2014 sees the boutique celebration of music and art host the biggest line-up yet. With stages hosted by RA, Red Bull Music Academy, Noisey, Flux and many more, the range of talent is ludicrous.
The line-up’s bursting at the seams. Dixon and Mano Le Tough, The Fall and British Sea Power, Daniel Avery, Huxley and Joy Orbison. Hot new acts like Wayward, Beaty Heart and Toy feature, as well as stalwarts Crazy P Soundsystem, Greg Wilson and Jon Hopkins. Not to mention Jackmaster, Darkside and Dusky.
The list goes on. And on. And on. Check it out here.
The atmosphere at Beacons is a true delight and with light installations, stalls, fairs and film screenings (Shane Meadows gave a riveting Q&A on his hit film ‘Made Of Stone’ last year) there really is something for everyone.
More information can be found here and more importantly tickets can be bought here. If there’s one tip we have for August, we highly recommend you hit the north.
As usual, to whet the appetite, we’ve compiled a special Beacons playlist for your listening pleasure. Get excited:
