Little Dragon – Paris (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs Holiday Edit)

Anything that has “Holiday” in the title sounds pretty good to us right now.

This one’s got more than a wishful name though. Your boy Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaur has produced a dancefloor-orientated, bass-heavy remix of single du jour, ‘Paris’ by Little Dragon. TEED’s reworks tend to be weightier than his solo stuff and this is no different, despite a melodic emergence of sorts around half way through.

Catch Little Dragon at all festivals, everywhere, this summer.

Above & Beyond – Sticky Fingers (Lane 8 Remix)

Shouts to Anjunabeats for spreading the good word of Lane 8. Regular readers will know he’s up there amongst our favourites, and having made the move to Europe from the US, he decided sub-label Anjunadeep was the right place to release his excellent EP, ‘The One’.

So good were his efforts, label heads Above & Beyond have recruited his skills on their next release, ‘Sticky Fingers’. It’s a tad on the emo side, but once again showcases his crisp production skills nicely. This’ll be good for the sun-downers.

Gidge – I Fell in Love

It really is a delight to hear new material from Sweden’s Gidge. The Scandinavian summer house of their first offering ‘You’ became something of a classic in the HD camp and on first listen ‘I Fell In Love’ won’t be far off.

Although it doesn’t have a similar climax to ‘You’, the tune rolls along at a wonderful pace and is full to the brim with emotion. The gravitas builds as the intricate sounds slowly creep in. It’s all about the control, this one.

It’s only their second release too, so we’re very excited to hear their debut LP out later this year. Here’s a re-cap on ‘You’:

Röyksopp & Robyn – Do It Again (Moullinex Remix)

A frivolous mood has taken HD Towers. It must be the sun.

This remix from Moullinex is good, honest, hands-in-the-air electro:

We’ve always had a soft spot for Robyn (ever since a kids breakfast TV interview with her pop star pre-incarnation, conducted by yours truly) and her ‘Body Talk’ album deserved every plaudit it got. Now we’re getting all hot and bothered about a new mini-album with Röyksopp, the title track being the above-remixed ‘Do It Again’.

All stirring stuff.

Ferreck Dawn & Redondo – Love Too Deep

We’re breaking the unspoken rule of music blogs here by posting a track that has been out for several whole months (we know, we’re sorry) – but when a chorus is this good, exceptions must be made. When said chorus comes in after one and a half minutes of the usual nondescript bassy shuffling, the world becomes a significantly better place.

It renders instantly irrelevant the fact that not much happens after that. And that we have heard very little from Dutch producers Ferreck Dawn or Redondo before or since. And that the latter’s moniker appears to have nothing to do with iconic Argentine footballer Fernando Redondo.

We live in a fast-moving world, for good or ill. Your children will not be writing their PhD theses on this track, but you really won’t care about its lack of nuance when you’re dancing to it on a beach this summer with your hands in the air, a Tequila Gimlet in your hand, and some crap Wayfarers on your head. So we suggest you just enjoy it.

Kyla La Grange – The Knife (Krystal Klear Remix)

We like Kyla round these parts and had no doubts over her excellent tastes. She hasn’t let us down:

She’s enlisted Manc-based Madtech affiliate and well-known party-starter Krystal Klear to do the business on ‘The Knife’, her latest single ahead of album ‘Cut Your Teeth’. It’s a banger, hat-tip to Thump for putting it out there.

Special mentions also go to his Boiler Room and Blood Orange remix, same high qual, trust:

Noir & Hayze – Angel (Ripperton Mix)

Swiss house and techno producer Raphaël Ripperton – Ripperton – remixed one of the standout tracks at the end of last year. His remix of ‘Why don’t ya?’ by Baikal was pretty serious, clocking in (as it did) at just over 14 minutes. Mesmerising stuff, and that ending…Wow.

Then Dixon jumped on the bandwagon, did his thing, beefed it up, and that was great too…

Anyway, now Ripperton is back with a new remix. The track is ‘Angel’ and it’s originally produced by Noir & Hayze. It’s got some really great moody summer vibes, and we hope/expect to be hearing this a lot over the coming months.

Out on June 9th.

Daniel Avery – Knowing You’ll Be Here (KiNK Remix)

Daniel Avery is a pretty big deal nowadays. There are many standout moments on his debut album ‘Drone Logic’ – the opening track ‘Water Jump’ and the title track are just two. But our personal favourite is the album’s concluding tune, ‘Knowing We’ll Be Here’, an epic track that reminds us of The Chemical Brothers at their festival-dominating best.

Now, Bulgarian producer KiNK has done a remix job on it, and absolutely smashed it out the park. There’s no two ways about it really: this will be one of the tracks of the summer in our eyes.

Out on various formats through the month of June. If you’re one of our readers from North America, go and see Daniel Avery whilst you can. His tour there runs until the end of May. We saw him on NYE and we can’t recommend it enough.

A quick thank you to all those who came down to Canavan’s on Friday night for the sixth instalment of Human Drizzle Presents. We had a blast and will be back in no time, so keep your eyes peeled for summer shenanigans. In the meantime, here are a couple of things to tide you over. Firstly, HD resident Hot Karl’s sumptuous mix – and secondly, a few snaps from Friday. The rest will be on our Facebook page in no time at all.

Turks & Caicos

A huge thank you to all that came down to Canavan’s for our latest instalment of Human Drizzle Presents on Friday night – we were blown away by the fine array of sets thrown down, leading from the top with the superlative Dauwd. More info and a selection of snaps from the night to follow shortly.

But it is a new week and there’s a load of new music that we want to share. Primarily Mr Hugo Manuel aka Chad Valley’s new side project, Turks & Caicos. Unsure as to why he created a new alias, it’s more of the same sun-kissed tones we’ve come to expect from Chad Valley. But we’re not gonna complain when it’s this good. A refreshing way to start the week:
