Munk – Intimate Stranger (Plastic Plates Remix)

Australia’s Felix Bloxsom aka Plastic Plates has added his usual ounce of bounce to the German producer Munk’s new one, ‘Intimate Stranger’. It’s the party tune a Friday avo wants – looped vocals, punchy beats and party keys all building up together very nicely. Also on the remix package is Swiss duo Mercury‘s effort. Out 17th Feb via Under The Shade:

Lane 8 – The One EP

‘Nothing You Can Say’ is the jewel in the crown of Lane 8’s upcoming ‘The One’ EP, out on Anjunadeep:

Featuring the wistful vocals of Lucy Stone, this demonstrates yet again Lane 8’s ability to pen a feel-good tune. The title track is more of a slow-burning deep house track, but it’s no less good. The EP comes armed with a remix from Austrian duo Klangkarussell and the whole package hits the shelves February 10th.

For the longer listen, check out this recent mix he’s done for Anjunadeep which features HD faves Clancy and Bodhi, amongst others.

PS. Londoners (or not, if you’re keen) – Lane 8’s playing alongside Isaac Tichauer and Hackman at The Nest on April 4th. Get down there. Guaranteed fun, that.

Robin S – Show Me Love (EJECA Remix)

Ejeca has gone and added a little hard-edged garage to the 90s classic ‘Show Me Love’ by Robin S; follow this link to cop the free download on his Soundcloud.

Highly recommend putting one of these dates in the diary for his European tour over the next few months, he’s in fine form.

Human Drizzle: The Mixtape, January 2014 | Benedict Jackson

We’re excited Benedict Jacksonto announce a new feature on Human Drizzle. Every month we will bring you an exclusive mixtape from one of our favourite artists. First up is Benedict Jackson, whose April EP was the debut release from wave-making London DJ duo (and label), Real Nice (Recordings).

We saw Benedict at Loft Studios before Christmas and fell in love with his sound – which is nicely represented on this mix: from hands-in-the-air disco to moody deep house via Skeelo (yep), it’s the best 90 minutes you will spend today. Tuck in.

Ben Pearce – Lego

Ben Pearce’s got another cannon in his artillery.

Dropped exclusively courtesy of Mixmag, ‘Lego’ is the lead single from the upcoming ‘Lego’ EP, which will be released on his own label Purp & Soul. Check out his tour dates over the next few months; this one’s going to sound ace on the dancefloor. As will this top Kwabs remix he did recently, for that matter:

DJ Vague – Dummy Mix

You know that muscular techno we were bangin’ on about a few weeks back? Well, here’s some more:

DJ Vague, aka Helix, has put together a melange of new productions for Dummy, rattling along at 140bpm to push you through this Friday. Neck a coffee, pop this on, and defy the odds with a productive day’s work.

Tycho – Montana

Finally some guitars.

If you’ve not heard of Tycho, it’s someone we highly recommend acquainting yourself with. San Francisco-based, this ambient producer has picked up a loyal fan base after nearly a decade of making tunes.

Like a cheap ‘n cheerful Mogwai, easy comparisons can be drawn to HD faves Explosions In The Sky. It’s real montage stuff. Fist in the air, emotionally-charged music that you can, quite simply, get lost in. And we love it.

The good news is he’s popping over to blighty for a one-stop show at East London’s fantastic Oval Space on March 26th. Do yourself a favour and make sure you’re there. ‘Montana’ and previously released ‘Awake’ are due to feature on his next album, due out March 18th on Ghostly International.

Casino Times – WOLF EP023

Hefty return by Oxford-raised, London-based Casino Times. Released in February on the consistently-excellent Wolf Music, the EP consists of three new original tracks and one remix from Damiano Von Erckert.

Whether it’s the deep and dark jittery house of ‘Stirling’ or the funky meanderings of ‘AWD’, there’s wide scope here. Opener ‘Principles’ is the real stand out for us. With a pulsating beat, dramatic strings and emphatic vocal this one’s got some stride.

Human Drizzle presents…Panda, Sixth Avenue Express, Project Fresh Socks & Hot Karl @ Bar 512

A very Happy New Year to you all. In just over two weeks time we’ve got our first party of twenty fourteen, and we’d love you to join us.

In true HDP tradition, we’re popping back over the river for this one and decamping to Bar 512 on Kingsland Road. It’s an excellent little space about thirty seconds walk from Dalston Junction, and with the fun-filled line-up we’ve commandeered, we’re confidently predicting another unmissable night. Tell all your mates about it over here.

Tickets are currently on sale at just six pound a pop, so if you want to save a little for a couple of extra bitter shandies on arrival, get to it pronto:

We’re very pleased to have Panda headlining proceedings.

Back in November last year theirs was the best debut EP we’d heard in a long while. Released on Toyboy & Robin’s Cool Kid Music, ‘Eighty Nine’ was full of blistering pianos and swirling synths, hugely influenced by 90s house yet still sounding on the right side of current. For a taster:

Since then their work rate has been second to none. They’ve given away a glorious hands-in-the-air piece of euphoria to fans for reaching three thousand followers on Soundcloud, they’ve recently dropped a taster of their upcoming EP on the tastemaking Eton Messy, and they’ve set the wheels in motion for their own label. Oh, and did we mention they dropped a wicked little number on the recent Black Butter Records compilation? It’s called ‘Harmony Fifth’:

Basically, these lads are going places. Follow them, like them, and then come dance to them.

Support comes from emerging talent Sixth Avenue Express, who again wowed us back in November last year, releasing an extremely promising EP on the House of Disco label entitled ‘I See’. Exploring a slightly deeper soundscape, it’s all woozy basslines, catchy vocals and a wonderfully chugging tempo.

Judging by the standard of recent mixes, we’re thrilled to have him on the ones and twos come 7th Feb:

Project Fresh Socks stepped in to spin some records at Human Drizzle Presents at the Yard back in August. We were mightily impressed with their tune selection and didn’t think twice about booking them for this one. Featuring the likes of Leon Vynehall and Pleasurekraft, check out the ‘Don’t Walk, Dance’ mix done by the London-based, Nordic duo:

Warming up proceedings nicely will be HD resident, Hot Karl. Get yourselves down early for his excellent selections and alluring stage presence.

All in all, the 7th Feb is shaping up to be a cracking night. So ditch the celery smoothie, postpone the boot camp session and get yourself down the front for this.
