Skream — Rollercoaster feat. Sam Frank

Hey guys, you know Skream is into disco these days? Yes, says everyone, everywhere.

All we can say is, thank god he’s good at it:

‘Rollercoaster’, featuring longtime Skream collaborator Sam Frank, is a sumptuous example of the disco revival that’s coursing through dance music right now. It’s out October 28th but expect to hear it plenty before then.

Whilst we’re here, prolong that vibe with this Skreamix of inc.’s ‘5 Days’:

Did we mention Skream’s into disco now?

Scenic – Shockwaves (Roosevelt Remix)

The boy Roosevelt can do no wrong. Having just released his debut EP ‘Elliot’, the Cologne-based producer is already mastering remixes on the side. The feel-good disco sounds of this track are quite simply, irresistible. This is released via Future Classic, September 13th.

P A U L I E – Want You (Clancy Remix)

Essential listening here. Clancy’s got a new remix out and it’s of ‘Want You’ by P A U L I E, one half of Cosmonauts. Anyone who’s been on the roll call at previous Human Drizzle Presents will know, we’re big fans of both artists involved.

After time spent working hard in the studio, it’s great to have Clancy back on the scene with this understated deep house rework. The irresistible piano and rising synths create a sound that’s both euphoric and reflective. As versatile as a young Phil Neville but considerably more attractive, this one could fit many a mood.

We’re informed Clancy’s new EP is coming out in the next few weeks too, we’ll have our eyes peeled.

Breach ft. Andreya Triana – Everything You Never Had (We Had It All)

So, finally, it’s happening. Breach‘s ‘Everything You Never Had (We Had It All)’ featuring Andreya Triana on vocals looks like it is finally going to get a release. This has got us extremely excited. Four months ago, it was played by Annie Mac on her show, and two days later T. Williams featured it on his Sunday night Rinse FM broadcast, to a massive response.

But then…nothing. Rips of those shows disappeared off the web, and there was no sign of any release date, although young Ben and Eats Everything continued to play the song out. Maybe Mr. Westbeach was overwhelmed by the success of his massive summer hit ‘Jack’ and fantastic remix of ‘Everything’ by Maya Jane Coles and decided to shelve the release for a bit…? Who knows? Who cares? It’s here now and, despite it being in clip form, it looks certain that this will be Breach’s next single.

The tune itself can only be described as a dance floor banger, with a soaring finale. It mixes a thumping house beat over Andreya’s soulful vocals, with a crescendo that sees him return to the type of intensity that made ‘You Won’t Find Love Again’ such a brilliant tune last summer. We really can’t get enough of it.

As for Ben himself, he continues to go from strength to strength, with an increasingly impressive range of releases. 2013 has been huge for him. Catch Breach and T. Williams amongst a strong line up at XOYO next weekend for Bugged Out!

Daughter – Youth (Lane 8 Remix)

More goodness from HD favourite Lane 8, this. It’s a little more subdued than some of his previous outings and, as the man himself said when lobbing this tune in our direction this week, “It’s not a song anyone is going to be playing out in the nightclub.” There are other places to enjoy music, though. We don’t have the time or space to list them all here, but many are suitable for this slow-burning Daughter remix – which boasts moody disco sonics and a swirling intensity.

Needwant with Eddie C @ Basing House, 07.09.13

London label Needwant have been running nights at Shoreditch’s Basing House for some time now, with one line-up standing out as particularly fruity back in January. Heavy snowfall disrupted Ejeca‘s travel plans that evening but, with summer still desperately clinging on in the British Isles, next Saturday’s headliner Eddie C should have no such problems.

For those not familiar with the unimaginatively-monikered Canadian, check out his recent mix for Beats in Space (below). He’s a seasoned veteran with a taste for disco and funk that is a pleasing antidote to the humourlessness that pervades many a London club night. Support comes from Pete Herbert, whose ambient tones will further enhance what promises to be a top night.

Sound good? Head to our Facebook page to win yourself a shiny pair of tickets – or to Resident Advisor to buy some.

Charles Murdoch – Dekire (Bodhi Remix)

It’s a real pleasant surprise to have Bodhi back on the scene with their remix of Charles Murdoch’s ‘Dekire’. Not only are Future Classic serving it up as a free download, but our favourite Welsh production duo are flexing a more downbeat and atmospheric approach to this refix. More strings to their bow ‘n all.

Future Classic shall be releasing Bodhi’s upcoming EP ‘Imperfection/No More’ in October, around about the time they’ll be on a UK tour supporting Bondax. For anyone in the capital, we’d recommend you get yourselves down to iCAN Studios in Hackney for that one, it’s on the 4th.

Culture/Deliquesce still sounding fresh:

Bondax – Giving it All (Joe Goddard Remix)

Joe Goddard, he of Hot Chip and The 2 Bears, has gone and shown us/the world why he’s also one of our favourite remixers out there. You know, besides the two successful groups he’s in.

He’s stepped into a crowded field and reworked ‘Giving it All’ by Lancaster’s finest, Bondax. This is in advance of guesting at their debut London show (together with LOADS of other HD faves):

If you like the rhythmic, chiming flow of Goddard’s work then enjoy these two. We’re going to pop them both on right now:

Mixtapes – Zimmer, Real Nice & Charles Murdoch

Any of you lot looking to plug in for a longer listen, here’s our pick of the best mixes out there right now.

Parisian producer Zimmer has recently unleashed his August mixtape, ‘La Crique’. It’s his ‘take on the perfect pool party mixtape’ and it’s just shy of an hour’s worth of sunny delights. You can get this one for free on his Soundcloud right here.

After impressing them with their DJ slot at Ibiza’s Space last month, The Fat! Club recruited London-based duo Real Nice to take the 68th slot in their mix series. Some party tunes in here. Again, this one’s yours for free here.

Lastly, i-D online have commandeered one-to-watch from Down Under Charles Murdoch to fill an hour. The Future Classic recruit delivers ‘some smooth sounds to soothe the soul’ – this one’s stripped back and downbeat, and well worth the listen.
