George FitzGerald – I Can Tell (By The Way You Move)

Stellar return from George FitzGerald in ‘I Can Tell (By The Way You Move)’. Release date unknown for this one but we do know he’s just grabbed himself a deal with Domino’s sister label Double Six. Presumably this will be the first taster of an album to come, on said label. Big things for that one.

Bxentric – Surrender

Impressive return from London-based Bxentric with new single ‘Surrender’. Released yesterday on Glasgow Underground, this is the second original we’ve heard from the group ahead of their debut EP, and it’s very promising. The first managed to wangle itself on to Aeroplane’s 2011 ‘In Flight Entertainment’ compilation. Rightly so, it’s a lot of fun:

Dan Croll – From Nowhere (Ben Gomori’s Staring You In The Eye Remix)

Back in October last year we stumbled across the gem that is Ben Gomori’s ‘Staring You In The Eye’ remix of Dan Croll’s ‘From Nowhere’. It’s a master class of a re-work, and we can’t quite understand why it’s not got the attention it deserves. The piano crescendos are superlative and the tune’s nothing short of totally feel good. What’s quite fun is that today finally sees its vinyl release proper, via London-based SHH Edits. You can purchase it here.

What’s even more exciting is that we’ve managed to persuade Mr Gomori to come spin some records at our next party, Human Drizzle Presents on 3rd August. That’s this Saturday folks. Excitingly we’re throwing the party as part of The Hive Project at the intimate Yard Theatre in Hackney Wick; with two of our other favourite budding London DJs Copy Paste Soul and Vanilla Ace playing too, we’re bursting at the seams. Snap up your tickets and come join the fun:

While you’re there, it may be worth heading over to Pulse Radio. They’ve recently invited Ben Gomori in for their Fresh Blood feature. It sheds some light on his thoughts on the music industry and his own musical background. There’s also a special ‘summer vibes’ mix on there too, which is indeed worth a listen.

Todd Terje – Essential Mix July 2013

Supreme Cuts – Envision

We’re fanboys of Chicago twosome Supreme Cuts here at HD, which makes us preeeetty excited about their new album. ‘Divine Ecstasy’ is out on Dovecote Records in October and they’ve taken it in a more euphoric, vocal and generally brilliant direction. Here’s the first cut from it, ‘Envision’, an urgent pop tune with Poliça’s Channy Leaneagh providing the words:

And here’s something from their back catalogue, just because it’s ace:

Beacons Festival 2013

Beacons

Greetings. From Beacons.

That’s what we’ll be saying August 16th-18th when HD decamps to the Funkirk Estate (come on…) in glamorous Skipton for Beacons Festival 2013. As ever, there are too many people we’re excited to see. RBMA, Resident Advisor and Noisey are all hosting stages and here are some things from some people that are playing:

Exciting huh?

The take-home message from all of this is COME ALONG. We’ll bring an iPod dock, play some tunes and call it a Human Drizzle stage. Deal?

LeSale – Before The Night (Rocco Raimundo Version)

Rocco Raimundo is another artist winning friends by serving up consistently good tunes and giving them away for your listening pleasure, for free. In doing so, he’s picking up quite the loyal following. With good reason, we should add. The Australian DJ has a knack for adding a clean-cut, verging-on-the-pensive, summer lovin’ edge to his production. He’s done it perfectly in his latest remix above, that of Austrian DJ LeSale’s ‘Before The Night’. He also did it a while back with Two Door Cinema Club’s ‘Sleep Alone’ and before that with the great Lou Reed:

Hemingway – Far Gone

Funky jive from US producer Hemingway to spruce up your Wednesday mornings.

If it’s your sun-kissed cosmic disco you’re after, keep your eyes on this chap. He’s recently remixed Lindstrom’s ‘Vōs-sākō-rv’, which will only add to his hype. Again, nice little laidback summer jam.

Ikonika – Aerotropolis

You know what you need to hear? The new Ikonika album. Luckily, it’s here for you (via The Guardian):

‘Aerotropolis’, inspired by her time DJing in an airport city, is out on Hyperdub July 29th and is essential listening. Lighter than her 2010 debut, it has more nostalgic, guilty influences. She seems to be smiling more in pictures these days too. Here’s a GTA-esque vid for ‘Mr Cake’, a track title Abdel-Hamid claims was inspired by a shit cake in a Nunhead bakery. Sounds inspirational.

Finally, that lot over at Abeano are putting on a details-light night at The Shacklewell Arms on Thursday featuring Ikonika herself. We suggest you join us there.

Human Drizzle Presents

Human Drizzle Presents - CopyBoy are we excited to get on down to The Yard Theatre for Human Drizzle presents on Saturday 3rd August. We’ve invited three super-talented DJs for your dancing delight, we can’t wait to hear them spin some tunes in this fantastic venue. Spread the word on FB here and grab your tickets now from the following link:

http://www.residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?491025

If you’re unfamiliar with the DJs, allow us to shed some light:

We’ve been big fans of jack of all trades Ben Gomori for a while now. The multi-talented producer, DJ, A&R scout and radio host first stole our hearts back in October last year with his nothing-short-of-glorious remix of Dan Croll’s ‘From Nowhere’. It’s so good we placed it at number five in our Top Ten Tracks of 2012 and has had vinyl limited edition release proper, TODAY!

More recently he’s been running his own weekly podcast of brand spanking new music, Turned On. Feast your ears on the most recent episode for a flavour:

We’ve also got Vanilla Ace on the 1s and 2s. Blending disco and house this up and coming DJ also known as Sam Young has been tipped for big things this year. He’s had releases on Toolroom RecordsOff Recordings and Ministry Of Sound to name a few and we can’t wait to hear him play:

For the longer listen, check out this super-fun mix he’s recently done for Spirit Soul Records:

Headlining the night is red-hot London producer, Copy Paste Soul. 2013 has seen a steady rise for CPS after two excellent releases on the super-cool Exploited Records. Having seen him play recently with David August, there’s no doubt in our minds that he’s going to set the place a light.

Feast your ears on his set for the one and only Carl Cox’s opening party at Space in Ibiza just a fortnight ago:

Lots of things to get excited about, we hope you’ll agree. We look forward to seeing you all down there!
